Man I missed that debate. It would be hard to find many honest moderators to do that. Maybe the best one would be someone who personally knew the governors’ communication styles beforehand so they could make the debate uhmm a little synchronized.

It really didn’t.
They both looked bad in my opinion. Hannity put up a graph about Covid deaths that I swear seemed bogus. Someone said it wasn’t adjusted for age. A few times Hannity seemed to debate Newsom, who I don’t think used effective arguments given the Fox audience. I could be wrong, and open to correction, but I don’t think it looked good for either party.
I didn’t see the whole thing, but from the clips I’ve seen posted on Twitter, Newsom absolutely annihilated DeSantis. Which isn’t surprising – Newsom is really terrific in this format, and DeSantis always comes across as an awkward jerk.
Well nobody saw it. All we’ll see is the recaps, in which Newsom scored some great zingers… and Ron had a poop map. He truly is the worst candidate for president in my lifetime.

I both want context for this statement and don’t, at the same time.
That’s what I predicted (yay me!) back when this was announced. I saw how Newsom handed Hannity’s ass to him in an interview and was extremely confident he’d eat that stiff DeSantis’s lunch.

I was kind of irritated that Newsom was going to participate in this debate. I just did not see the point.
I know it’s early and I’m probably only seeing the positive opinions since I don’t watch Fox, but most folks seem to think that Newsom knocked it out of the park.

So, if this is an accurate take, well then, Go Gavin.
Also, when Newsom said that neither he nor DeSantis will be on the ballot for 2024, that helped put my mind at ease. He also complimented Biden a lot.
Gavin is a team player, though I’m sure he’s itching for the chance to run in '28. This was undoubtedly part of that. He is a very skilled communicator (very obviously Clintonesque), and while I don’t know if he’d be my preference in '28, he’ll be a very solid candidate, IMO.
You have to be shit-the-bed bad at running for president to lose a debate to a guy who’s not even running.

De Santis is catching a lot of flak for just happening to have a map showing where feces were found in San Francisco on him. Pulling this out clearly was not the smartest thing for him to do.
And, just for shits and giggles, here’s a “poop map” for Miami. It’s eight years old, but it’s not clear to me how old the San Francisco map is, or whjat period of time it covers

As someone said: what kind of team are you running that allows someone to say, “I know, pull out a map of shit when he mentions San Francisco,” and that person is not immediately beaten to death/fired/heckled mercilessly until they run out of the room in eternal shame? The issue with DeSantis was that he was insecure, prickly, and surrounded by yes people (who am I kidding? Definitely MEN). This is that evidence.
Kayleigh McEnany, that paragon of objective journalistic integrity, and DeSantis’ dog are the only individuals trying to spin this as a victory. At best, nobody saw it. At worse…
