Ron DeSantis 2024 (Campaign suspended on January 21, 2024)

Let alone Shinola.

If he knew anything about shit he wouldn’t wear bright white boots.

She had to okay it. An obvious deformation of that surname is “McEninny”, and an obvious deformation of “ninny” is “nincompoop”. Q.E.D.

I took one for the team and listened to that fistfight - oops, debate.

There’s a report that during the commercial break, taken after they announced they were going to go, if you will, into overtime, Mrs. Newsom walked out on stage and said, in so many words, that this was going to end, now.

This dude gives me Homelander vibes.

If you read Ingrid Jacques’ column today, you’d think that DeSantis scored an impressive victory in the debate. At least he has one admirer.

Of course all the brainwashed dupes who follow the talking heads who’ll cherry ick her fulsome praise for the best bits will believe that too.

I smirked when Meatball cited all the people leaving CA for Floriduh. The only reason anyone would do that is because of politics (good riddance) or financial reasons. What they’re going to discover is that you get what you pay for. Enjoy that lack of state tax; unless you’re fairly wealthy and can afford one of a handful of affluent areas you’re going to find yourself in a backward shit hole.
Comparing California to Florida is like oranges and road apples.

My favorite thing I’ve seen of the debate is when Newsome said that during the pandemic DeSantis “followed the science, you followed the facts”. DeSantis’ response, of course, was “that’s not true!”. The perfect Republican answer.
(This should start at that exchange but if not, it’s at 1:22.)

This makes no sense. Which words are missing where?

? Newsome claimed that during the pandemic DeSantis followed CDC guidelines (followed the science, followed the facts). Which he did, at least in the beginning. The amusing part is that DeSantis vehemently denied doing any such rational thing.

I live in greater Miami.

What’s funny is that DeSantis really didn’t do any such thing for very long. He really did ignore most of the CDC guidance on lockdowns, tracking, social distancing, etc. for most of the time. Not the first 3 or 4 weeks, but about the time CDC began to put out a coherent logical plan, that’s about when DeSantis stopped listening to them.

As soon as there were any adverse economic consequences, he switched completely to “COVID, what COVID? No such thing around here!” To the point of actively and openly suppressing the collection and dissemination of any health statistics long before any vaccines were available to begin to blunt the baleful consequences for Florida’s vast elderly population.

His fans in FL believe he did the smart thing by prioritizing the economy over public safety. Him loudly declaring he was ignoring the CDC is exactly what is base liked /likes.

Hahaha a small government Republican, wanting to use government money to contest a certain set of non-governmental election results, is just perfect. A genius move to cement his Florida fanbase, while alienating a bunch of others.

It won’t even cement his Florida fan base, there are more people who hate the Seminoles in FL than in the rest of the country combined.

My guess is that someone on his staff is an FSU fan and convinced him that this is a great way to get more popular support. Ron is clueless about this stuff and desperate because his political aspirations are going off a cliff and polls are in the dumpster. Just another horrible decision that will backfire on the meatball.

Ron had a choice between actually challenging Trump and trying to be the meaner nastier bigger Trump.

I saw his first TV ad last night and then again today. Boy, he is seriously unlikable.

Awkward wanna be tuff guy.

"Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s super PAC, Never Back Down, has reportedly canceled all of its 2024 ad reservation in Iowa and New Hampshire, a total of $2.5 million in ad buys, just weeks before the GOP presidential primary kicks off. "

Never Back Down pac. Get it?

I’m on my phone, and not understanding how to link …
I’ll try, I will.

I’m actually kinda glad DeSantis is imploding on the national stage. He’d be an even worse president than Trump, if that’s possible.
