Ron DeSantis 2024 (Campaign suspended on January 21, 2024)

I posted earlier in another thread that the guy running his PAC quit.

So this development is no surprise.

He’s on course to reaching “Please clap” level pathetic.

I dunno - someone who isn’t running has less to lose and thus will pull fewer punches. Newsom only had to take down DeSantis, not to convince the nation to vote for him as well.

It should be noted that two other of DeSantis’ Super PACs (I can’t be arsed to look up their names) are taking over the function of airing TV spots; Never Back Down is simply ceding that functionality.

Newsom is running hard… for 2028.

DeSantis says he’d pardon Trump. He’s probably jealous of Haley’s recent headlines.

Ramaswamy checked in to declare that he would not only pardon Trump, but shine his shoes as well.
(No cite for that, I got it telepathically.)

The guy is dead but doesn’t know it. Sounds like a movie plot.

Weekend at Ramaswamy’s

We’ll be lucky if that’s all Ramaswamy does for Trump.

What is dead may never die. We’ll hear about him again.

Hey, kink shaming is not cool!

The most poorly executed presidential run I can remember has ended:

I think Rudy had a worse one. But, yes, Desantis 24 didn’t shine.

I think Jeb Bush remains the gold standard.

Whoops. I didn’t see this thread and posted in another one.

Tomorrow’s news: he has formed an exploratory committee for a 2028 run.

I just told my spouse that DeSantis dropped out. She replied, “I thought he already had.” This seems to be the root of the problem. All that money and effort, and he was unable to move the needle even a little.

In retrospect, the campaign manager spent his days working on a jigsaw puzzle had exactly the right idea.

I’m a bit disappointed. Not because he has failed or was appreciably better than Trump. But this greatly decreases face-eating opportunities in the Republican Party. The more Trump and his supporters had to give a little divided attention to the nomination (even if in the bag), the better. I imagine Haley will soon follow and it will just be effectively a no-primary campaign (or worse Biden will attract a little more internal opposition than Trump). Bad for democracy, bad for this election.
