Ron DeSantis - The Pit Edition

For now… I wouldn’t be surprised if the law is changed by then to allow him to run again into perpetuity. Don’t forget this gem:

How he can get a whole state to do anything he wants boggles the mind. He shouldn’t even be able to win a PTA election, he’s so awful at everything he does.

Further opinion: from the outside it looks like the FloriDems got badly demoralized at the statehouse level by what happened with Gillum, therefore the Crist debacle, and kind of refocused on reclaiming a US Senate seat — but by pretty much conceding the state offices they wrecked those chances too.

The Dems yielding the battlefield resulted in a surge of mediocre nut-wing legislators and other officials who have nothing but Ron’s coattails to ride on so they’ll follow him over the cliff, plus emboldening the ones that were already there.

Also, shouldn’t a Dee Santis park include plenty of neck muscle exercise machines, and old jet fighters that you can pose next to and pretend that you were top gun?

This plus ALEC.

Well, considering how supine and spineless the legislature has been until now, I had considered legislation giving him an additional term to be his for asking. I also had expected him to NOT run for 2024, being young and smart enough to not run against Trump and support him in exchange for a likely endorsement in 2028 (probably along with a pardon offer in exchange). So, my crystal ball was crappy. I just thought that playing the “young heir” with Trump’s lackluster support would be enough to get FL to give him another term leaving him in a place of power to run in 2028 as I said.

I -think- his “success” as a culture warrior prompted him to run for 2024 with everyone (including Fox) telling him he was sooo much more popular, skilled, and well, perfect than Trump. Which discounts Trump’s freakish but undeniable charisma with deplorables, and his own lack of such, coming off instead as a poorly emulated and articulated automaton.

If he was making a credible performance in the primaries, instead of failing even THERE to evoke an interest, I’d still think it extremely likely to get the legislature to offer him another term, but now, I’m starting to wonder, thus my earlier post.

DeSantis is term limited by the Florida constitution. If my quick Googling is correct, an amendment requires approval by at least 60 percent of the vote. If true, Ronnie is probably fucked, but fear not Florida. Welcome your next governor, Casey DeSantis.

“Don’t cry for me, Floriduh-uh…”

Why do I think these fuckers would claim some sort of emergency for a “temporary” exception? Or use DeSantis’ newly employed Voter Police with paramilitary training to “oversee” such an election and gee-whiz, find he has the votes after all?

Remember, we’re in the Pit, so I don’t have to be rational with my fears and arguments!

The fact that such fears and arguments as far from unfounded is, of course, terrifying.

What? No, Ron! Eww! Gross.

In the meantime, there is some speculation that he, like the Dumpster, wears elevator shoes.

Well, with “two dog parks, two playgrounds, two shaded pickleball courts”, I’m sure we can expect at least a little segregation.
