roommate drama - you be the judge

A buddy of mine had to do this in college. One of his housemates was in charge of collecting the money for the utilities bills from all seven of the tenants (big house full of students). So while Little Miss Jackass was collecting and cashing everyone’s checks, she wasn’t actually paying the bill. Due to the cold, the power company isn’t allowed to cut your power during the winter, between Autumn Date X and Spring Date Y.

Little Miss Jackass moved out a little early before the term ended. Spring Date Y rolled around and, much to everyone else’s shock, the power was cut off since they were about 8 months in arrears. My buddy paid the outstanding bill, then with no other contact address for the Little Miss Jackass, called her dad.

“Hi, Mr. Notajackass. Do you now how to reach Little Miss Jackass? I’m sorry to have to tell you…” and then informed him of the situation. Mr. Notajackass was horrified, and sent check by courrier.

A few days later, Little Miss Jackass called and whined: “You called my dad??? How could you?” She’d left no forwarding address, left everyone in the lurch for a significant amountof money, but was whiing that someone “told on her”.
