I’m surprised they were able to get Goodman to sign on. His career is doing well enough that he doesn’t need to return to a supporting role in a sitcom. He’s a bigger name now than Roseanne is.
There have been shows brought back with much of the original cast, often in the form of TV movies (Perry Mason, Rockford Files, Gilligan’s Island, a one-off of The Andy Griffith Show), but usually not the full nucleus. Usually someone has died, or gotten fed up with the show or too famous to return (like Tina Louise on GI)The only other case I know of where they did bring back everyone was the voice cast for The Jetsons when it was revived in the 1980s.
For the Jetsons movie they replaced the voices of Judy (with Tiffany) and Elroy.
I’ll probably watch the first episode out of sick fascination but I doubt it will be worth watching. I liked the show first run for the first 5 years or so but I’ve never really enjoyed going back and watching it again. I’m glad they’re ignoring the last 2 years as they were terrible anyway.
Money.
Clearly you haven’t seen Roseanne’s reality show about life on a macadamia nut farm.
I wish that I were making that up.
Since he died in the original show, I wonder if he’ll just make a few cameo appearances in flashbacks. SImilar to Melissa McCarthy’s role in the Gilmore Girls reunion- she was only in one brief scene at the end.
Finally there will be some good TV on for a change instead of all the shitty TV we’ve had to put up with since the late 90s.
This was one of the few non-shitty TV shows since Roseanne went off the air.
Rosanne once said in an interview she thinks DJ would’ve ended up getting killed in Iraq; they could just have that be Mark’s fate instead.

Well, the Gilmore Girls and Full House revisits were successful I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of this.
With that said, while I give Roseanne a fair measure of credit* for helping break us out of the Full House/Growing Pains/Cosby Show style family show slog of the 80s and paving the way for modern ‘family’ comedies, I don’t know anyone who was asking for more Roseanne today.
I agree with all of this. I’ll watch because of Laurie Metcalf and John Goodman in the hope that I won’t be embarrassed for them. Roseanne could still tank the whole thing. I didn’t watch her reality show, but my impression is that she’s gone batcrap crazy. It wouldn’t surprise me if it turns out to be impossible to work with her.
The big question is whether or not Tom Arnold will be in it.
I think it would be funny if they randomly switched between the two Beckies. Without comment, of course. Maybe even within the same episode.
Didn’t watch it the first time; won’t watch it the second time.
thanks for letting us know! I’ve never been sky diving, which i will continue to not do.
Because they’ve done the math and think it’ll make money.
That’s the answer to 90% of questions about tv scheduling and production - someone who can make decisions thinks that it’ll make more money.
That said, I have less than no interest in this. Or W&G.
There ya go.
Roseanne is always liking the flashy, loves to be center stage/spot light.
I thought the ladies that dont come back is because the gain weight? Tina Louise too famous or too fed up?
I liked it. was different but then again I like seeing Hawaii
(this coming from the least likely to EVER watch “reality tv”)
I’ve always liked Roseanne as most standup female comedians, but all stand up even
Liked the show too except after they won the lottery. It was a good ending though.
They only made 6 episodes, summer entertainment, just stay outside and enjoy the weather instead of watching tv…thats what most people do right?
I assume George Clooney has signed on.
Right?
Right?
mmm
Was he on Roseanne? I only remember his early days as being a semi-regular on “The Facts of Life.”
George Clooney, Martin Mull, Tim Curry, Sandra Bernhard, Estelle Parsons, Ned Beatty, Shelley Winters, and Morgan Fairchild - right off the top of my head - had roles on Roseanne… If it’s an update on the family, I am really interested to see what happened with all of them…I saw a picture of Roseanne recently and didn’t even recognize her. I hope that in the context of the show she overcame her sad near-poverty and became successful at something. ‘Little D.J.’ is coming back, he’s in his 30’s by now, at least…This is one of the rare sitcoms I really enjoyed and I’m looking forward to it.
