So I’ve had a rough past two years, because the place where I was living sucked. Now I just moved a week ago, the place I’ve moved to is awesome, and I’m loving the school I’m in at least for now. But I just lost two really important things (but I’m getting replacements…well, hopefully), got stuck staying somewhere sucky for Saturday when I was supposed to go somewhere awesome (long story), and just generally have been distracted by the hassle with my friends moving things out from my old place (why I didn’t do that originally is, again, a long story). Lots of personal details I’ve obviously left out here, but anyways…any random ideas to destress? Sympathy would be much appreciated
Focus on what you can control. You’ve got an awesome place and you’re loving your school. Those are HUGE.
Stuff about your old place will get sorted. One lost opportunity for an awesome Saturday night is not the end of the world.
Sounds like after a tough time, things are looking up for you!
Follow the advice of Dan Quayle, who said “the past is over”. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by dwelling on persons, places, or organizations that did something wrong to you in the past. So just forgive, forget, and let them go.
Also, some basic advice on moving into a new community: there’s always lots of stuff going on beyond what’s being publicized and well-known. I’m talking about things like sports, theater, music, whatever your personal prefernce for fun is. So investigate and see what’s happening.
