'Rowdy' Rhonda Rousey wins again

One thing that you can see with Ronda or any of the other MMA fighter is just how quick they are.

If Joe Average tried to take a swing a Ronda, she would duck that punch come up beside him, And then arm bar or submit him before he would know what happens.
You can se this with the different training footage with Ronda and Bethe. You can see that Ronda is much faster and more skilled than Bethe.
No doubt that Bethe tried and trained hard in this fight but she was just outclassed by Ronda overall.

Does Ronda spar with other guys. Absolutely! There is lots of footage of that. Can she submit these training partners - Certainly she does at times
Now, as for how she would do in a full out MMA battle with the equivalent top ranked male, she would most likely lose although there would be the potential that she could get in a lucky submission as she could have an exceptional day and her opponent could have an off day

I enjoy watching MMA, and am learning more about the technical side of it, but I’m not a ‘student’ of the sport. With respect to Rousey I’m seeing reports calling her the best pound for pound fighter ever/on the planet/etc. While I can clearly see she is a superb athlete and fighter, I’m curious to know from more knowledgeable followers of the sport if this is a case of a good athlete dominating what I presume is a relatively small pool of opponents. Or if her skills really put her into the same category as Tyson/Ali/etc?

She doesn’t have the competition to determine how good she is. Nor is she considered the best pound for pound unless you limit the competition to women. However, among women fighters she is arguably the best pound for pound on the planet right now.

The use of the word “arguably” implies an alternative. Truly curious, who are you thinking of?

UFC doesn’t have a recognized women’s weight class over 135. To fight in a UFC-sanctioned bout, Cyborg will have to drop to 135.

No one in particular. Pound-for-pound is always arguable. I’ve already pointed out that Rousey hasn’t had sufficient competition to determine just how good she is, and her stamina is in question until she gets into a long fight.

Dana White can change that whenever he wants to.

Hey Dana! Got a blockbuster idea for you! Ya know that money-making machine you have? Yeah, the one that makes you a shit-ton of money fighting outclassed talent. The Rowdy chick. Yeah, her. So anyway’s, here’s the idea:

Create a NEW weight class for the wimmens, so that your already bankable star can fight a chick from Brazil who got busted for 'roids a few years back and maybe she gets beat! Great idea, huh?

Wait, why are you hitting me?!?!

here’s a pretty good article that I think does a pretty good job of answering this question.

I don’t think you know much about how this business works.

Anecdotal point but I once sparred with someone who has sparred with Ronda Rousey

The lady I was sparring with was much quicker to react than I was and in term she said that Ronda was much quicker than she was.

So by using that, I have no doubt that Ronda would have no trouble submitting me even though I am 2x of Ronda’s size.

But then I am just your average guy, not an athlete by any means

Please explain it to me then, O Font of Wisdom! I’m waiting to learn at the feet of the master.

As long as Rhonda Rousey is under contract with Dana White he’s not going to let her fight anyone who isn’t also under contract. He doesn’t care who wins, the fighter that beats Rhonda Rousey becomes the new superstar. The rematch alone will be worth more than the rest of Rousey’s career without the first fight. And once Rhonda’s contract is up she can fight anybody in any promotion she wants. She’s bigger than UFC, and if she wants to fight Cyborg then Dana will do whatever she tells him to because he can’t force her to fight anyone else to make money for him if she doesn’t want to.

Ronda.

Interesting photo from the Rousey/Correia fight.

Ronda grapples with Gilbert Melendez, a top UFC contender at 20 pounds more than she does, and does much better: - YouTube

Here she shows a reporter what it’s really like: UFC's Nick Diaz + Strikeforce's Ronda Rousey Submit Layzie The Savage 6 Times - YouTube

Ok, Mousasi has moved to middleweight, at 185 pounds, 50 pounds more than Rousey fights at.

You have the same link twice, btw. Not sure what the point of showiong her losing to someone 70 lbs heavier. There are weight classes for a reason. I’d love to sere her spar Ulriah Faber, for example.

Proof that she spars with men.
