Ruben or Clay?

I think Clay really is perfect for Broadway. And I think his voice is better than Ruben’s but I sort of think Ruben may win.

Of course, if Clay wins, I’m just hoping he doesn’t burst into tears.

I think Clay’s gonna probably win, unless Ruben gets the votes-- which he most definitely will. Then Ruben will win.

You know, I honestly just think it’s going to come down to whoever gets the most votes. And I think Clay has the edge there. Unless more people vote for Ruben.

So look for Ruben to run away with this competition, unless Clay can collect those all-important votes in his favor.

YMMV

Happy

Really?

Oh y’all buncha Yankees!!

RU-BEN! RU-BEN! RU-BEN!!

I am soooo wanting him to win. I actually think Clay is great, and talented beyond words. But hey. Ruben is da man. 205…and all dat. [sub][sup]Yes, I admit to being biased.[/sub][/sup]

RU-BEN!

Thanks, Lola . Since my father died, my mother has turned into one hip old lady. She’s become a rabid social activist and general all-around free-thinker. But I have to admit that I was startled to hear even she had started watching Idol – she’s a bit past the teen heartthrob stage!

Normally I would never be caught dead watching things like American Idol.

But a co worker had it on at work one night and I just became mesmerized by the show.

And its on Fox, which means I dont have to change channels. I watch my simpsons, king of the hill, friends times two and then Idol. It laziness but also very compelling.

I really couldnt make up my mind. I like them both, but neither are the kind of music I really like.

Still, I guess I’d pick Ruben.

It’s Clay. Ruben doesn’t suck or anything, he’s just kind of boring. I only started watching a few weeks ago, but has he ever sung anything uptempo? The ballads are killing me.

I couldn’t get through last night, but my husband did once, for Clay.

There are a thousand Clay’s out there.
My vote goes for RUUUUBEEEEEENNNNNN!!!

Clay Aiken’s from North Carolina.

Actually, the final five contestants were all from south of the Mason-Dixon line, IIRC. The last genuine Yankee on the show was Julia DeMato, who was wayyyyy out of her league.

CLAY
I actually got thrugh for the vote I was so excited that I let out a whoop and woke up the kid :smack: but she was ok since she wanted to vote for Clay too

Rubin is good but boring and he seems to be going down hill a bit lately, like his heart just isn’t in it anymore.

But Clay just keeps getting better

I just wish Simon hadn’t said anything to him about winking, I miss that wink

DAMB you Simon;)

Putting things in persepctive, Ruben is lucky to have made it this far. With the benfit of hindsight I think the 12 finalists should have been ranked thusly:

  1. Clay
  2. Kim Locke
  3. Kim Caldwell
  4. Ruben
  5. Trenyce
  6. Julia
  7. Vanessa
  8. Ricky
  9. Charles
  10. Carmen
  11. Corey
  12. Josh

Clay should win. His technique, willingness to take risks, and stage presence all are far beyond Ruben.

That said…I can’t believe I actually give a tinker’s damn about this crap.

CLAY!!!

I love his voice. I think he will be the next Barry Manilow or Neil Diamond!

I tried forever to vote for him, but couldn’t get through. I figured that was a good sign.

eh?
Clay is kinda funny looking, Ruben has a beautiful smile.

Clay’s speaking voice is, how shall I put it, about as charismatic as David Beckhams. Ruben sounds lovely.

Clay belongs on Broadway, singing “the Surrey with the fringe on top” and “the music of the night”.

Ruben does a nice pop, cheese, sing-a-long-a-gospel/soul thing.

If you’re picking a POP IDOL, it has to be Ruben, if you’re picking a talented singer…Clay.

Why there will never be world peace.

RUUUUBEN! My hubby put it well - Clay can take any song and make it into instant cheese.

And Ruben can take any song and make it into instant w(h)ine.

I like cheese!

It’ll be a tie. 34,452,902 to 34,452,902!

The two of them will have to tour together for the next 20 years, then one day, one of them will marry a girl named Yoko Bono and the duo will tragically split up. But 10 years later, they will re-unite for a teary-eyed benefit to save Canada from Mad Moose disease and it will be their final performance together.

I’m pulling for Clay. They’ve both got good voices, but I think Clay has worked SO much harder. It’s pretty close at this point. Clay has given me chills (Bridge, Unchained, etc…) but Ruben hasn’t.

To the all Ruben fans…sorry, but I’m not impressed anymore. It seems like his heart just isn’t in it now. I don’t know why…it’s not as if the show has been going on forever and ever or anything… I just don’t feel like he’s the same person as the “original” Ruben who was getting all the high praises. There’s just no sparkle anymore. His songs all seem a little flat and emotionless to me. Maybe it’s just my boredom and desire for the darn thing to be over already.

Clay on the other hand seems to have worked really hard at changing himself in to what the judges want. He has totally improved his image, lost the weird facial expressions, and only seems to get better each week. The first song he did last night was awesome. I just like the boy I guess.

Clay seems to have a huge number of supporters, so my opinion is that he will win.
