Rude moderators

I’m new to the board and I asked a question in the general
questions section that was closed by the moderator manhattan. I’m still not sure why the thread was closed, I think it was because my question was not factual. I found out that I had posted in the wrong board and that the thread was closed when I read this little helpful pearl of wisdom from manhattan the “moderator”

Why are forum descriptions sooooo hard to read?

Complaint - Is it soooo difficult to for some moderators to show even the slightest bit of common courtesy

In case anyone is interest here is the thread

AWESOME! Manhattan SURGES ahead in the Mod with the most Pit Threads horse race.

Surely, Phil, it must be the recent resurgance of new, wacky members to the board who choose not to read forum descriptions.

I don’t know, Ken, could it be he’s just cranky?

Let’s wait and see how the next round goes.

That Manhattan, he’s a rat bastard!

So tell us, Progressive_left, why are forum descriptions so hard to read?

And for manny, that was a pretty mild rebuke.

It’s common courtesy, when posting to a new message board, to read the rules and understand the customs before posting. Doing so saves the moderators unnecessary work. In other words, you were rude first.

Haj

Progressive_left’s “question” was:

You really thought that was a question with a factual answer? Personally, I think Manhattan went easy on you.

Never trust anyone with three a’s in their name.

I find it a good rule of thumb.

No, he’s a NAZICOMMIE, like all the other mods. D’uh.

so nyah

Well, I think manny was WAY out of line closing it. The poster asked a factual question regarding the body temperature of Latino people. Surely there’s an answer to that!

I ain’t a Mod but heres my advice.

Since there could be a million unique reasons why Latinas are or not hot, it doesn’t go in General Questions. Only questions with a non subjective answer should be asked there. If I were you, I might lurk for a bit, until you get a better feel for the boards.

Hope this helped.

You’ll get over it.

And lose the “sooooo” thing – we’re using a written medium here and we value good spelling, punctuation and usage, particularly in General Questions and the other factual forums.

Damn you people reply quick.

Funny – I’ve never seen him around The Rat Bastard Web Site. I’d put my Rat Bastard Iron DM skills up against his any time!

Well why are Latinas soooo hot? Is it the beaf, been and cheese burritos they consume?

The good news is, Progressive_left has already figured out the forum descriptions well enough to post his complaint about manhattan in exactly the right forum! This bodes well for his future on the SDMB, yes it does!

One thing, though, p-l. You should have posted a more profanity-laced rant; this is more likely to be noticed here in the Pit. Most regulars will probably read your post and think, “Ah, he’s not that ticked at manhattan.” Whereas if you called him a ‘thrice-damned pus-ridden slime-spewing newt-brained prokaryote’, people will probably sit up and take notice. Or at least go look up ‘prokaryote’.

He’s right – I find it difficult to work up a properly snarky response if I haven’t at least been invited to felch something diseased and non-human.

I thought all moderators had to do that during their initiation.

“You really thought that was a question with a factual answer? Personally, I think Manhattan went easy on you.”

Is it so difficult for you to read the OP and figure out what transpired?
Obviously the question is not factual, I failed to read the description for the general questions board and incorrectly posted my question there.

So then, you should have said, after realizing your mistake-“Mods, I posted this in the wrong forum-please move, my appologies.”
