The responses were amazingly GQ worthy, given the vagueness of the question. Though probably all that could be said was.
Note that the question could be phrased appropriately for GQ - A higher proportion of Latinos seem attractive (cite non-anecdotal evidence at … ) Does anyone know why?
And I thought “Where can I find this island” was pretty funny.
I’ll say. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve asked my Latina stripper friend why she’s so hot, and I haven’t gotten a factual answer yet. **

Read the OP of this thread, then read my reply to blowero
Hopefully then you will see that your post is based on a false assumption.
Well, Zette, he restricted his concern to female persons of Latino heritage. While I must say that I consider his concern for gender equality to be a step above a certain other poster of calendric nomenclature’s, this brings into the question the aspects of the implications of the menstrual cycle and the natural body-temperature fluctuations resulting therefrom, among a variety of other concerns. Surely, though, we can essay an answer in rough form to benefit him.
Seriously, PL, the board as a while and the staff take very seriously the forum descriptions, simply because it’s nigh onto impossible to keep up with the number of threads and posts on nearly every conceivable subject that flood this board in a 24-hour period. You might have gotten some interesting responses to that OP in MPSIMS – but people reviewing GQ are looking for factual answers to questions that have them, or at least have consensus-of-informed-opinion quasi-answers. (E.g., “Is there one God in three Persons?” is an opinion question suited for GD; “What’s the orthodox Christian doctrine of the Trinity mean?” is a question with a more-or-less-factual answer suitable for GQ – while it may require some personal-opinion posting as to the “meaning” of the Trinity, and there is no assumption that there is a Trinity, the question is seeking out a definitive statement about what Christians as a whole have to say about a dogma in which they believe. )
Matters of taste belong in CS or MPSIMS – our gay male posters, for example, are unlikely to share your view that “Latinas are soooo hot” (though they may hold a similar view on Latinos) – and there may be Lesbian posters who find them equally as hot as do you. And, of course, there may be those whose sexuality is oriented towards blondes-with-big-boobs who find Latinas less than desirable.
OK, so you were dumb in a different way. Big deal. Get over it and move on. And, as others have said, count yourself lucky that manhattan went EASY on you.
Polycarp, I agree my question was posted in the wrong board.
I did not read the description for general questions, my mistake.
You seem to be under the assumption that I thought my question belonged in general questions, if so you would be wrong.
My rant was prompted by the rude response of the moderator.
Not only was the question inane, but the subject was “I have a question”… a thread in the forum “General Questions”… “I have a question”…
folks, we may not be dealing with the high priest of Mensa here.
Pray you don’t ever meet my wife, Enderw24. She has long since stopped being amazed, or even amused, at the way my mind works (or doesn’t work, as the case may be).
Now, if she asks me what I’m thinking about, and I say “You don’t want to know,” she doesn’t ask anymore. She knows that if she persists, I’ll reveal that I was thinking about the new Sade song, “Rude Moderator.” And she’ll sprain her eyeballs from rolling them so hard.
I think I’m hilarious. My wife thinks I’m one step above paramecium.
You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet. manhattan went surprising easy on you. If your feelings are so easily hurt, this place may be too rough-and-tumble for you. (And BTW your OP didn’t even come close to a rant.)
Ah. Manny was rude because your post represents the (on a good guess) 4,387th OP that didn’t belong in GQ, under the forum definitions that we’re expected to abide, by to come along and require his action to either close or move it in the 2+ years he’s been moderating that forum. Does that put a little better perspective on why he might have been just a mite tetchy in his comment closing it?
