"Rudolph" T.V. Special

Watching that I realized that I’ve forgotten how cute Rudolph’s butt is…

Rudolph alert! Scheduled to air this year on CBS, Nov. 30 at 8 pm Eastern.

“Ready, Santa!”

I just bought the special on DVD Saturday!

I can’t wait to watch it Friday night.

I want to point out that this is

THE TEN ANNIVERSARY OF THE SDMB ANNUAL RUDOLPH THREAD BUMP TRADITION!!!

One of the best user name/post combos I’ve ever seen.

I can’t believe I missed this thread. You’ve got me hauling out my copy of the program, and I need to study!

Bumpity-bump as a reminder it airs tonight.

They need to make a new Rudolph special in honor of this thread. They could call it: “Rudolph and The Zombie Curse”.

Let the Reindeer Games begin!

The thread was originated by a Doper who is no longer with us, so we just bump it every year in his honor.

That reindeer coach was a real hard-ass.

And a bit pervy if you ask me.

I won’t be home tonight, but it won’t be the Year Without Rudolph – it’ll be the Year with a DVR! Ready, Santa!

I probably haven’t seen this special in over 40 years. I found out it’s on tonight, and the DVR is set!

Ever notice that Santa’s bald and his beard is white, while his wife has a head of thick black hair? Methinks Mrs. Santa curtains and carpet don’t match.

On the Island of Misfit Toys song, the transgender doll sings “Wake up. Wake up. It’s time to come out.” I laughed so hard I had to put my tea cup down.

What always bugged me is that Rankin and Bass weren’t consistent through all their specials. Santa was different in Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.

Did anyone notice that this thread is 10 years old?

Anyway, I always thought that Rudolph’s mother was Vixen.

It’s a holiday Doper tradition. The late Poopah Chalupah began this thread and it’s been resurrected every year since, with the blessing of the admins even back when all zombification was verboten.

ETA: I just realized you might be just saying “Wow…it’s been 10 years since Poopah started this thread” rather than “Wow…who went and dug up a 10-year-old thread?” If so, ignore the first part of this reply…

Anyone know if this will this air on broadcast TV again this year? Maybe closer to Christmas? There’s something somehow “better” about watching it broadcast to you at night with commercials, than putting it on yourself on dvd, or buried on some second rate cable channel at 3 in the afternoon. But not in November.
