Rudolph the RedNosed Reindeer - what's wrong with the misfit doll?

I’ve been watching the Rankin/Bass classic “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer” with my toddler son (over and over I might add!)

When it comes to the misfit toys, I couldn’t see any flaw with the doll, the one that looks like a Raggedy Ann.

Anyone see something that I don’t?

Happy Holidays.

Doesn’t seem like anyone really knows why the doll is on the island but this site suggests she has a Puff the Magic Dragon thing going on.

The stock answer is “Creator Arthur Rankin says that there’s nothing physically wrong with her – she has an unspecified psychological problem.”

This guy is being coy to try and flog his book.

: previews :

I see Jeff’s link refers to the book itself, and it doesn’t look as though there’s any more detail in it. What a bastid.

Good grief you guys. This has been flogged to death as recently as YESTERDAY.

Dinna see that one. You can bet though, that at any given point in the two weeks leading up to christmas, someone is posing this question. It’s the “Why do hotdogs come in packs of…” of the holidays.

I even did a search and hadn’t seen that thread had been bumped again.

OOOPS!

Sorry I didn’t do my usual search of archives for this question.
