In Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, most of the toys on the Island of Misfit Toys had obvious defects. There was, however, a doll who seemed somewhat normal. Has anyone noticed anything about her that might merit her being exiled on the island?
Well it looks like there is no definitive answer but this site has one theory.

I saw another cite that claimed she was a homicidal maniac or a doll that pissed acid. (they of course were taken more light heartedly).
Mr. S’s theory is that she has a penis.
according to rankinbass.com who created the character (and to whom I asked hte very same question), they spouted to me some total bullshit about her having ‘emotional problems’ because she cried all the time.
Sounds like mysoginist crap to me and I told them so
I think the doll was supposed to go here.
There’s arecently-revived thread in which jayjay provides a link which supports jarbaby’s answer.
Jarbaby’s right. It was supposed to be a “happy” doll, but it cried all the time.
I know Rudolph is a tradition, but I’ve never really liked it myself. I’ve never cared for any of the Rankin Bass specials. All I need to see are A Charlie Brown Christmas, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life and White Christmas.
[nitpick]Actually, the site was created and is run by a number of Rankin-Bass historians. Although I believe Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass know of them, they have no input on the site.[/nitpick]
That said, it’s not surprising there’s no reasonable answer. There are many toys who we don’t know about. What about the airplane that pops out of the box at the beginning of the misfit toy song? What about the scooter that gets a single line in that song? What about King Moonracer himself? Was he exiled to the Island because he was a lion with wings and worked his way up to the position of King, or did he just come there one day and decide to be the ruler?
Female troubles?
