[Rudolph] You'll go down in history (like ???)

Sometimes “like George Washington”, but we also often ended with “he never did”
sung in the same manner as “and many mooooorre” at the end of Happy Birthday.

After “with glee” we’d sing “tee hee hee”.

I’m surprised that my hometown wasn’t in the Columbus camp. We have a rather grand statue of him in the middle of town, and fireworks on Columbus Day. But, we have a Washington’s Headquarters, too.

call him names > like Pinoccio
games > like Monopoly
glee > HOO-RAY!
history > like Columbus

1970s SoCal

We went to a karaoke bar and they had carol contest. Two of my friends ended up in 1st & 2nd Place.

One female friend had a really nice singing voice. She sang a wonderful rendition of Silent Night or some similar song to showcase her talent.

A male friend just got up with no particular singing talent at all and sang Rudolph. The crowd ate it up with the sing-along extra lines.

By show of applause, he won. She was the pissed off runner-up.

George Washington. Never even heard of that Columbus shit before this thread.

– NYC, grew up in the 1970s. And now, my own kids sing it this way too, untaught by me (though we live in the same neighborhood as where I grew up).

(We should map the replies by time period and geographic location)

Next up: what happens after the Batmobile loses a wheel? (I will start a separate thread…)
