Columbus. I’m in California.
George Washington. But I’ve heard Columbus as well, less frequently. I grew up in Virginia.
George Washington. Grew up in Delaware.
The song ends with “You’ll go down in history.”, there’s nothing after it so I voted other.
Grew up in North Dakota/South Dakota/Arizona
Like Lincoln. Columbus I could understand, but George Washington doesn’t even remotely scan with any of the other add-ons (reindeer, like a lightbulb, like “Dummy”, like football, yippee!). I’m a Kentucky girl.
George Washington, grew up in Georgia (the state, not the country).
I grew up in western PA, and we sang “Like Lincoln!”
I don’t understand how Columbus or George Washington would be sung, there’s too many syllables!
You just kind of shout it.
May I just ask, in all seriousness, what the buggery flip are you talking about? Is this a common thing?
The ‘poem’ ends with “his-tor-eeee” to rhyme with “glee”. I’ve never, ever heard even a sniff of anything different - how does it even fit into the melody structure? (I’m in the UK, BTW). Please explain…
Columbus, Illinois.
I’m in Chicago, and I completely agree with this post. WTF?
Ottawa, Ont. Also issuing a “WTF”?
Please explain what you mean with those poll choices.
Columbus. Grew up in texas.
Although, my next thought was ‘Attila, the Hun’. Which I think I got from the Simpsons
Really? I thought the little ‘additions’ to Rudolph were universal if not completely agreed upon.
‘you might even think it glows’. Like a lightbulb! (shouted)
‘play in any reindeer games’. Like Football!
‘you’ll go down in historeeeeee’. Like Attilla the Hun!
Ahh-The Rocky Horror Picture Show treatment! I’ve never actually heard it done to “Rudolph” before.
Columbus
New Orleans 'burbs, mid-80s.
Columbus, mostly, but I’ve heard George Washington, too.
California, from my kids and their friends over the past 10 years.
