Rumors of my Boss's death have been greatly exaggerated

I live in a town where everybody knows everything about everybody. The information superhighway of the Internet has nothing on the gossip mill in Bergen County New Jersey. We often get calls about what is happening before it makes the news.

I’ve had two phone calls about my Boss’s supposed “death.” She battled breast cancer two years ago, so it is plausible that something happened yesterday. After the first call, I called her cell phone and when she answered said “Oh, good, you are alive. Someone called here saying they heard you died.” She informs me she got five phone calls last night, including one from the Chief of Police who is her friend and was ready to come out to her house.

It is going to be a long day, and the phone is going to be ringing.
