Rush Limbaugh and drugs

you did better than me, all I could come up w/ was ‘quite friggid Quint’ which made no sense.

When people complain that Rush Limbaugh isn’t being treated with sufficient civility, it always reminds me of the schoolyard bully who suddenly declares that it’s ‘no fair’ to use fists when the victim starts hitting back.

It is apparent (with thanks to Qadgop, DoctorJ and the other posters who were correct in this regard for the education) that I have underestimated how widespread is the abuse of pain-killers and the consequences thereof. My ignorance has at least been reduced in this regard. I do still think that pain-killer abuse, as a percentage of the overall drug problem that exists in this country, is still a relatively minor one.

The Consumer’s Union report Licit and Illicit Drugs talks about women prostituting themselves and people trading all their food for cigarettes during WWII, when cigarettes were very scarce.

Most people remember the old “I would walk a mile for a Camel” advertisements, however, not many people remember Lucky Strike’s wildly successful “I would suck a dick for a Lucky Strike” campaign… Toasty!

When I’m trying to figure out those kind of things, I can never imagine an “F” as anything but fuck.

So I guess nobody know the answer to the OP, which is does Rush still talk about drug addiction on his show?

The thing that always seems lost in threads on talk radio is that these people are showmen (and women). I work in radio, and it is a host’s job to drive ratings (and thereby drive up ad rates). Saying controversial things tends to drive ratings. I’d be shocked in Limbaugh (and his ilk, including the tv talk show hosts) believe things as vehemently as they portray on the air. Or if they believe them at all. Pissing people off is a tried and true way to get people to call in and capture listeners.

Which leads to what I think should be the real issue: why so many people are never taught to deal with the media with a critical eye. Er, ear.
