To bring this back on topic (sorta), he commented, wrt his Honolulu hospital stay, that “The treatment I received here was the best that the world has to offer. I don’t think there’s one thing wrong with the American health care system. It is working just fine.”

I think he’s making an error many make in this debate: he’s forgetting that (perhaps arguably, but it needs to be addressed) cost and payment are part and parcel of that system, not just treatment. But then, he’s wealthy enough (and probably insured enough) that it may not occur to him.

Rush, and his ilk, Coulter, Beck et al. are a different animal though. There is never, ever anything positive that they have to say (except for the failings of liberals). It’s all outrage, disagreement, indignation, and doomsday prophecy. They are the anti-hope, have always been, and always will be. These people make their money not off of the ideals they propose, they make their money because their inflammatory and opposing views towards anyone they consider to be hostile, even republicans aren’t immune to that.

I see all of these people as being “hate mongers” or whatever. Is there an equivalent person in major media that personifies this as far as the left or liberal go?

I’d say Al Sharpton and Bill Maher, though neither one of those excercises near as much influence among liberals as the Limbaughs and Becks do among conservatives.

From what I’ve heard, Rush is a Steelers fan. Maybe he had some sort of attack when he thought of how much we sucked this season?
