OK, let me explain …
I’ve recently acquired a DVD copy of an intriguing 1988 British TV show called The One Game. One of the (several) good things about this show is the dreamy Eighties-Celtic theme song, titled “Seylon dola” composed by Nigel Hess, and originally performed by a group called Chameleon (apparently, the same combination did a similar number for the later Chimera, the TV adaptation of a Stephen Gallagher horror novel.)
Anyway, I’ve been looking around for a copy of the lyrics to this theme song, which is where the Patagonian Welsh thing comes in, because that’s the language it’s sung in … So far, I’ve had little success, but I have found out that Russell Watson did a cover version at one point (with Maire Brennan). So … anybody able to point me in the direction of the lyrics? A translation would be a bonus, as my Welsh (even non-Patagonian*) is pretty limited … but the bare lyrics would be quite enough to put a smile on my face.
*[sub]I’m sure I don’t need to explain on this message board that Patagonia has long had a thriving Welsh-speaking community … [/sub]
