It would be a bold statement, but the entire Secret Service hierarchy would have a coronary if he proposed something like that.
IMHO as always, YMMV.

Looks like there’s a fire again in Russia - this one at an oil storage depot near the border with Ukraine. The Guardian is reporting it but says it’s unconfirmed at the moment.
Very impressive blaze. There are a couple short videos on this twitter link.
The second video shows there are fires at more than one location, far apart from each other, so it certainly looks deliberate.
kudos to the Ukr. - what a smart and resourceful way of warfare … they are now exporting-war-activities to russian territories …
and the russians can only claim “fire due to old wiring” (like in the missile-research-facility) and other assorted BS …
… as otherwise they’d have to credit the Ukrs. for their successes and for outsmarting the Ru.
I can literally see Putin chewing on his knuckles over this ;o)
If you’re going to hit “soft” targets (not military bases or forts or such", oil and fuel depots are just the place to start.
And I wonder if there has been an increase in derailments of trains in that part of the world…there is not enough soldiers in any army to watch all the tracks and the Rus depend on the rail lines for the bulk of their logistics (such as it is and what there is of it). Not sexy or dramatic, but it can sure put a crimp in any attacking force.
Press on.
The Bryansk fires are visible on the NASA live fires map.
Sure hope that we can have an oil-refinery fire like the one that started Red Storm Rising…
There’s a Washington Post article (paywall) on how Belarusian railway saboteurs helped thwart Russia’s attack on Kyiv.
So, Russian industrial complexes are dropping like… like Russian generals.
Looking at the NASA fire map, there’s another fire at an industrial complex around 20 km to the north.
EDIT: It looks like this northern fire might be at a cement factory, so maybe not the target of a military strike. Probably faulty wiring causing the cement to ignite.

Thanks!
They need a separate line for generals just to add flavor.
A hypothetical: Russia really does smash through Ukraine and take it inside a week or so. What would/could the world have done? Maybe this needs its own thread?
I like “Imprisoned Bonus.” Someone’s getting the high score.
I guess some of Russia’s oil for the military went up in smoke. Maybe it will slow them down.
LONDON (Reuters) -Russia told the United States to stop sending more arms to Ukraine, warning that large Western deliveries of weapons were inflaming the conflict and would lead to more losses, Moscow’s ambassador to Washington said…
Anatoly Antonov, Russia’s ambassador to the United States, said such arms deliveries were… escalating the conflict in Ukraine while undermining efforts to reach some sort of peace agreement.
‘Look what you’re making us do!’
Strong statement from US Secretary of Defense Austin.
He’s a retired 4 Star General. 12th commander of United States Central Command (CENTCOM) from 2013 to 2016. He should be quite knowledgeable.
I’m glad Austin made the trip. Maybe he was briefed by his counterparts in Ukraine? Lloyd Austin - Wikipedia
