But we don’t know how often the average Russian car randomly explodes. Don’t forget the Pinto! (which wasn’t random and was actually not a common occurrence even when rear-ended, but ignore all that)
Somebody needs to make a video of Pinto footage (promotional videos, commercials, news reports of the fires, etc.) and set it to Chariots of Fire.
Putin’s hand picked head of the occupied Zaporishia region has been killed in a car bombing.
Gonna need a recall on those cars.
Note this occurred on August 24th which is Ukraine’s independence day. The day everybody feared a massive Russian attack.
As a goodwill gesture, they were incapable of mounting a massive attack.
That would explain a cowardly attack on a train.
At lunchtime, I met a lawyer I know slightly in the elevator. He was wearing a blue and white traditional Ukrainian “embroidery” shirt. I complimented him on and he smiled.
Illia Ponomarenko summarises the reasons the Russians have used for the stalls and setbacks of their invasion:
“It was a feint" - Russian milbloggers after the abandonment of Russia’s plan to capture Kyiv and their subsequent withdrawal from northern Ukraine.
“It was a goodwill gesture” - After abandoning Snake Island, following repeated Ukrainian strikes on it.
“We’re deliberately slowing down to reduce civilian casualties” - Shoigu today.
“We haven’t really started anything yet” - Putin at the beginning of July (“Everyone should know that we have not started in earnest yet”).
Plus,
“Those explosions? caused by careless smokers.”
Did it look like this?
Incidentally, the fantastic mustache and single lock of hair sprouting from the top of the head of Ukrainian heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk is not just an interesting fashion choice. It’s in the traditional style of Ukrainian cossacks. The hairstyle is called oseledets.
Also, according to Google Translate, the meaning of the word usyk in Ukrainian is “mustache”.
The $3 billion new arms package appears to contain NASAMS and some of the laser-guided Hydra 70 rockets that were modified.
Stat from today’s ISW campaign assessment:
Andorra’s area is 180 square miles.

By my rough calculation, if the Russian invasion continues at its current pace, it will take Russia up to 150 years to conquer Ukraine.
Nice!
Zelensky was wearing an awesome tactical one for today’s Independence Day, complete with embroidered tank and armored fighting vehicle.
The letter that they were said to be drawing up in the painting was very much on the spirit of the Snake Island stamp and the use of social media by today’s Ukrainian government.
Apparently Russia wasn’t able to fire a bombardment of cruise missiles on Ukraine’s Independence Day. Perhaps the recent airfield attacks made launching them more difficult. Russia did lose some bombers.
