Alternately, it’s possible that Putin did order airstrikes against Wagner, and they didn’t happen, and so now he needs someone to blame.
This whole thing looks a lot more like “Prigozhin got what he wanted” than “Putin planned it”. The only mystery is what exactly was it that Prigozhin wanted, and what assurances he has that he does have it (and will keep it).

There’s at least some possibility that Surovikin’s appearance in that video was not strictly voluntary.
Yes, there is a bit of a hostage video feel and the gun on his lap feels a bit staged. He sure looks like he’s reading from a script.
There are many trench-clearing videos from the counteroffensive. It’s a tiring fight, as this Ukrainian soldier describes:
Sounds similiar to US AWACS. The loss of communications would be a big loss for Russia.

Why are they bleeping ‘Russia’? It’s [russia] in the English captions so I guess he’s not actually saying that. Is he using a curse word?
Presumably. War is by its very nature impolite.

Hmm, likely this one:
Moskal[a] is a historical designation used for the residents of the Grand Duchy of Moscow from the 12th to the 15th centuries.
It is now sometimes used in Belarus, Ukraine, and Poland, but also in Romania, as an ethnic slur for Russians. The term is generally considered to be derogatory or condescending and reciprocal to the Russian term khokhol for Ukrainians. Another ethnic slur for Russians is kacap in Polish, or katsap (кацап) in Ukrainian.
Initially, as early as the 12th century, moskal r...
I guess I’m mostly surprised that a Ukranian source would find it necessary to censor this.
I suppose if they use it for some propaganda operation. Don’t want to piss off neutral parties?
Curse word or ethnic slur would be my guess.
Closer to something like the RC-135 . It’s a little more of a signals intelligence/electronic warfare platform.
The Beriev A-50 and A-100 are the AWACS equivalents.
Wagner fighters will no longer participate in the Ukraine war, according to Russian sources. . Perhaps people who rejoin the army will be formed into a new organization? I’m sure Putin would love to have some leading the charge, but can he trust them?
The base they were given in Belarus already has tents or buildings set up. Maybe they’ll be serving as a training base for Russian troops in Belarus?
It appears that the base is near Asipova, about an hour east and south of Minsk (the capital) and a little farther than that from the Ukraine and Russia borders (about equidistant to the two). Lukashenko could have offered them a location on the border, as close to Kyiv as possible, which would put them near Pripyat (the Chernobyl city), except there is nothing really there.
Well, there IS something there, but nothing anyone with sense wants to get close to…Certainly not a place to set up camp.
(Excepting people who actually work at Chernobyl to keep the place safe, but ya’ll know that’s not what I’m talking about)
Reports of a Russian bank executive falling from her apartment.
So far, just in the British tabs (Mail, Mirror, Sun).
Linked article goes on to speculate that Prigo is staying in a windowless hotel room in Belarus.

Those icy ledges on balconies can be treacherous; I’ve seen the slip-sliding going on in YouTubes. Oh yeah; it’s nearly July. Hmmm.
The Sun has
Kristina was at her apartment on the eleventh floor with her friend, 34-year-old Andrei. He told authorities Kristina invited him for a drink and chat but at some point, around 3am she went out to the balcony and fell out of the window.
So she had a windowed balcony? Something seems to be lost in the translation.
For clarification-is this a breaking news thread, or more of a general discussion of the war? Or a mix?
This is a breaking news thread. It says so right up there, somewhere. My thesaurus has an entry for “thread” that begins “chaos, digression, confusion, drift …”
