The “leadership” doesn’t care. It’s Mother Russia and/or Putin’s Ego as most important. As long as the sons from Moscow and St. Petersburg aren’t dying in appreciable numbers, destruction is of no concern. Russia is on a pyrrhic adventure.
It’s not as if Western volunteers from other countries didn’t go fight for Ukraine. I realize that’s not the same as North Korea actually sending troops, but I doubt they are all that effective, and North Korea is a joke country that can’t be expected to behave like a civilized nation anyway. (It’s been reported many of the Nork troops, now having access to internet, are perpetually distracted by the wonders of online porn.)
Ukraine is much better off receiving material aid.
I guess it won’t take too much effort to get the decommissioned equipment capable of firing. But, adding modern electronics for targeting is questionable.
PT 76?!? other than the fact they are amphibious, those are just deathtraps today, and the T55 isnt much better.
Bridge in Crimea Collapses ‘Spontaneously’.
-
The damage to the bridge will disrupt Russia’s transportation of supplies in the ongoing war against Ukraine. The railway is used to transport military shipments in the territory, and the Dzhankoi district in northern Crimea is reportedly a crucial military logistics hub.
-
Representatives of the occupying administration didn’t initially comment on the cause of the collapse, according to reports, which said one of the two people injured is in a critical condition. Crimean Transport Minister Alexander Ovdienko was cited by Arbat Media, a news outlet from Kazakhstan, as saying the bridge had collapsed “spontaneously,” and the Russians’ investigative committee later said the bridge collapsed due to vehicles on it being too heavy for the bridge to withstand.
They obviously need Calvin’s dad for assistance.
The sources say the bridge is between Maslove and Dzhankoi but those two towns have no water body between them. I think they mean either the bridges across the Chongar Strait or the causeway/bridge combo leading to Syvash, Russia. Do we know which one it is?
The wreckage of the bridge landed on railroad tracks below, so it’s possible there is no water under this bridge at all.
I understood that reference!
Maybe there’s a gorge or valley to cross, but it doesn’t look that way on Google Earth.
Any descent sized road will have a bridge over a rail road so both traffic and trains move unimpeded.
Yeah, now that I’ve seen the video, it looks more like a highway overpass than a full-on bridge. The article makes it sound like a much larger disruption than this.
Yeah, whenever I hear “bridge in Crimea”, my first thought is always the long one connecting it to the Russian mainland. Damage or destruction of that one is a big deal. By comparison, an overpass over a rail line is quite anticlimactic.
President Biden has authorized the first use of U.S.-supplied long-range missiles by Ukraine for strikes inside Russia, U.S. officials said.
The weapons are likely to be initially employed against Russian and North Korean troops in defense of Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region of western Russia, the officials said.
Too little too late.
Agree. And, IMHO there should be no restrictions on how they’re used.
Summary
Why should Ukraine pay any attention to restrictions, post-election?

That is actually the best method.
And as expected the UK and France have done the same thing…
These are arguably much harder for the Russian’s to intercept but I guess the Ukrainians have far fewer of them.
The New York Times cites several data sources that estimate Russia has lost more than 400,000 soldiers since the war started. Those numbers represent killed or seriously wounded soldiers – basically, people no longer able to fight. The number jumps to 600,000 to 700,000 if “lightly wounded” soldiers are included.
Also from the New York Times, Ukraine used ATACMS to hit an ammunition depot inside Russia. A Ukraine spokesman said Tuesday’s strike in Bryansk hit warehouses housing “artillery ammunition, including North Korean ammunition for their systems.”
Russia ramped up its attacks on civilians and infrastructure over the past couple of days, launching 120 missiles and 90 drones in its largest attack in three months on Sunday. It followed that up on Monday with attacks on civilian areas in Odessa, killing 10 and injuring 44.
One thing I missed:
On Tuesday, the Kremlin approved changes to Russia’s nuclear doctrine, setting out new conditions under which the country would consider using its arsenal.
It now says an attack from a non-nuclear state, if backed by a nuclear power, will be treated as a joint assault on Russia.
Obviously this is the usual Kremlin sabre rattling, but at some point perhaps the line will be crossed.
