Awesome! I envy you!
Did you rush the field after the game?
I was ready to go and then I found out tickets were going for $250. I decided it was a great night to watch the game on ESPN.
How far in advance did you buy the tickets?
Jim
I was there in official capacity. I got paid to be there. It would have been a bit unprofessional to rush the field
Unfortunately I had to be outside in the 4th quarter. But I did get to see about half the game from inside.
For someone who grew up about 2 miles from the stadium and who used to sneak into the games 25 years ago, it was amazing to feel the energy in that stadium.
Loach, even if you didn’t rush the field, that’s still pretty awesome that you got to experience it in person.
I just checked the latest AP poll, and Rutgers has jumped to #7 in the country! :eek:
It was pretty incredible.
Seriously guys…don’t be goin old school and losing…we got us a ballgame December 2nd
Rutgers National Championship Game Checklist, Revised 11.13.06:
- Need the winner of the OSU-Michigan game to do so in convincing fashion, preferably Michigan due to its stronger stance in the computer polls;
- Need USC to lose to Cal and then beat Notre Dame;
- Need Arkansas to lose to LSU and then beat Florida in the SEC Championship Game; and,
- Last, but certainly not least, need not stumble at Cincy or home vs. Syracuse, and then go into Morgantown and emerge with a victory against West Virginia to remain unbeaten.
These eight simple results will give you Rutgers, National Championship Game Participant
The Scarlet Knights are ranked 6th in this week’s BCS ratings, and need to rise to second - but, as the number two ranked team in the computer polls, their only method for doing so is to have the teams above them lose, and thus pass them in the human polls. Mostly because the teams above them have names on their uniform with more “winning tradition”, or something.
I’ll be perfectly happy to win the Big East championship, and then win the BCS bowl that puts us in.
What a weekend!
As exciting as it was seeing #3 Louisville, #4 Texas(!), #5 Auburn, and #8 Cal all lose; there was another game that REALLY got my attention.
Florida State lost at home to Wake Forest: 30-0 :eek:
I’ll definitely be in Mo-town for that one; though, I’m not certain yet whether or not I’ll be burning any furniture. Grant Street (and the rest of Sunnyside for that matter) isn’t quite as fun as it used to be.
I agree with that. I’m putting my money down now, no way Rutgers gets into the national championship game even if they are undefeated. That’s for next year.
I would be happy if they get into one of the BCS bowls.
I hope for nothing but the best for my state school, however…
Even if they win out (and it’s gonna be extremely difficult to beat WV on the road), I highly doubt that Rutgers will be in the National Championship game. And this may not be a bad thing for the program. IMHO, Ohio State and Michigan are by far the best 2 teams in college football and either one would demolish Rutgers. USC and Texas would also probably beat Rutgers, despite Texas’s recent performance. If Rutgers can beat West Virginia (plus Cincy and Syracuse) and get placed in a top BCS bowl (I think that they’d run all over Notre Dame), it might actually be better for Rutgers. An undefeated Rutgers would raise some eyebrows, and cast major doubts about the real BCS champion. This would attract more talent for the next few years and steer them towards being a perennial powerhouse. Getting demolished by OSU or Michigan might cause some people to think that this season was just a fluke.
GO SCARLET KNIGHTS! (but try to stay away from the BCS Championship game)
Oh, I have no doubt that someone else will get to the NC Game. I do tend to think that, this week’s hype aside, there may be no elite college football team this year. It’s pretty impossible to tell because of who OSU/Mich have and haven’t played, though (pick on the Big East schedule all you want, but the middle/bottom of the Big 10 is at least as questionable, Texas/ND may or may not be particularly impressive wins, and OSU didn’t even play Wisconsin this year). If they play each other tight and then rematch in the NC game… we will quite possibly finish the year and know virtually nothing about how our national champion compares to what are generally regarded as the two “tough conferences” nationally, the SEC and Pac-10 - and even less about the teams if one wins the first game and then the other wins the rematch. That would be a very unsatisfactory result for me, as a sports fan.
I would also be worried as hell, were I a true Rutgers fan (as opposed to a UConn fan who just likes seeing my Big East brethren do well), that you’d end up in the Fiesta Bowl opposite Boise State. That would be lose-lose - if you win, of course, you were expected to win, if you lose, wow, the Big East lost to this non-BCS team that had close calls against the likes of San Jose St. That’s no better a matchup for the school’s rep than a NC Game blowout.
