S. America's Holocaust-Awareness Float

Was it Argentina that prevented an intentionally grotesque float (to raise Holocaust awareness) from appearing in some parade? I ask because wasn’t it Argentina to which several WWII Nazi War Criminals fled (but were eventually caught)? - Jinx

It was in Brazil, proposed for the Carnival parade last weekend: Rio judge bans float on Holocaust.

Samba group?

The float was being hosted by a samba school.

I clearly don’t understand that dance as well as I thought I did.

As the linked article says, it was a Jewish Federation in Brazil that blocked the float.

The Miami Herald article I read on this alleges the float was to have included a “dancing Hitler.” The BBC account says the float would have included Hitler, but a non-dancing one.

Some Nazis did take refuge in Argentina post-War, but Argentina has nothing to do with this particular story.

Argentina had a sizable German population before the war and still does. This included and still includes a great number of people of German-Jewish ancestery. After the war, a lot of Germans went there, again, including German Jews. Not all Argentine Germans are Nazis or decended from Nazi escapees.

Much better. Dancing would have been in bad taste.

Especially Hitler doing a samba in a thong.

Sure. Any excuse to show John Barrowman singing.

Ice dancing would be even worse, though.
