Saddam Hussein dead? Correct Response?

I’m here in the Middle East, so I can tell you! There were rumors of his death, but he was seen in public three times since.

The first was about a week ago (?) when he attended a 7-hour long military show in Baghdad. Maybe CNN didn’t cover this, but the show involved over 1000 Russian-made tanks, new and improved missiles… the works. It was shown on several news stations around here.

The second was just 3 days back (?) when he met with a team of visiting Egyptian dramatists.

The third was just yesterday when he gave a long speech, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary for the creation of the Iraqi army (1921 - 2001).

So, no, he’s not dead. He’s very alive.

BTW guys, maybe this isn’t PC (but what IS “PC” on the SDMB?) From what I hear around here, Saddam Hussain seems to be a “media-made” Satan. No, he’s neither good nor nice, but he isn’t a Hitler either.

Then act quickly and sent formal condolences. No one will be able to pin you down as to whether you are offering condolences on his dying, or prematurely offering condolences on his rumoured death, or offering condolences on his not dying. The only thing certain is that no one can ding you for not offering condolences.
