Safari display question

I use Safari 4.1.3 on a PowerBook G4. Since yesterday my webmail display is too wide. That is, I have to use the slider to see to the right. I haven’t noticed this happening on other pages. Is there a setting in Safari that would size the page appropriately? (I’m talking about the page itself, and not the emails – though email I receive from one friend doesn’t wrap like I think it should.) Or is this a function of my webmail provider?

Your webmail provider is probably opening a window with a specified size that is larger than your screen. I don’t think there is any setting in Safari that will override this. What is your screen resolution?

Resolution is 1280 x 854. At least that’s what it is now! I double-clicked on Display instead of single-clicking, and it changed it to a lower resolution. :smack: But it’s back to normal now.

I suspect you’re right that it’s my webmail provider’s site that is larger than my screen size.

Sometimes it’s an individual line that is not properly wrapped that causes the window to be too wide.

I’m not up on Web 2 stuff enough to know how they do windows now, but it would probably have been formatted for 800 wide originally. It is possible to set browsers to wrap rather than scroll left/right if the window is narrower than text, but for a webmail page that would muck up their layout so it probably doesn’t do that.

If you resize the Dope window, you’ll notice that the text reflows rather than the window growing scroll left/right bars.
