Sajida Mubarak al-Rishawi and an alternate reality…

[warning thread may contain witnessing]

Since the capture of Sajida Mubarak al-Rishawi, I’ve been thinking a lot about the transition from this world to the next. None of us know what happens after we die, but most of us have some picture in our head of what we think might happen. For a lot of us it might be based on the cartoon version where our spirit (looks like we did but now with a robe and wings) floats up to heaven.

Now, in considering the brainwashing of suicide bombers, I suspect that their belief would be that they close their eyes, push the detonator, and when they wake up they would be in heaven. And its that transition that fascinates me here.

Which brings me back to Sajida Mubarak al-Rishawi. This is a suicide bomber that walked into a wedding party, closed her eyes and pushed the trigger. But in her case, when she woke up, she was in hell. Or as near to hell as I can imagine any one could be. When she opened her eyes, she was able to witness first-hand the affects of being in a terrorist bombing. She claims she ran out of the hotel with the crowd, and would have then gone into hiding. She’s now being held in a Jordanian prison and will undergo months of interrogation. I personally cannot imagine a worse hell.

So this got me thinking, were we able to witness an alternate reality? Is this situation a reflection of what happens after death? “Close your eyes, push the button, and then…”

I can’t bring myself to feel sorry for someone who wanted to murder innocent men, women, and children. If hell to you is facing responsibility for your actions, then I would like you to consider those that are regularly tortured, abused, raped, terrorized for years, if not their whole lives.
