Has anyone read the The Enchantress of Florenceby Salman Rushdie? I haven’t read it, but it occurs to me and intrigues me that this book might be a thinly veiled homage or ode to Padma Lakshmi, his recently divorced ex-wife. She really does seem like the courtesan characters that this book focuses on.
