I’ve never done it or seen it. Most pizza is plenty salty to begin with.
Hot saucing pizza is good.
The best hot sauce to put on pizza is Tabasco Garlic Sauce. Note it is NOT just Tabasco sauce with garlic in it. The pepper mix is signficantly different. That particular sauce can be hard to find. I had to resort to ordering a gallon directly from the company. Though when you buy it by the gallon it is cheaper in the long run.
Damn it is good on pizza though.
When I make pizza at home, I usually add salt after it cooks. I tend to go light on salt in the crust and use fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil as my toppings so there isn’t a lot of salt added in those items. I vote not weird.
I had one friend who would put salt on pizza. But he admitted he had a salt addiction.
I think it’s true that your taste buds built up an immunity to saltiness and you need to add more and more salt so you can taste it.
I generally lightly salt my pizza.
I’ve always added salt, and going on 40 years of pizza-eating, I’ve never found anyone who thought that was odd.
Depends on the pizza. If there’s sausage – pepperoni, linguica, italian sausage – there’s plenty of salt. Otherwise, I might salt pizza, esp. a veg one. Depends.
Missed the edit window: I do not salt everything automatically, but the red sauce on most pizzas is sweet, which I dislike. ( I don’t care for ketchup for that reason, either). The salt cancels it out.
However, if it’s a pizza being made just for me, I have them add chopped up anchovies BEFORE cooking, and that solves the problem nicely.
No, salting those is weird, too.
I’ve never encountered pizza that wasn’t already salty enough, and I like really salty food. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen anyone else salt their pizza, either. Still, whatever floats your boat (and it ought to float well on a saturated saline solution).
Fries?
(That’s genuine incredulty, not the feigned type so often seen on the Internet. I have never encountered fries at a pizzeria.)
I have been known to put a little salt on, but usually because the sauce is too sweet; I don’t get pizza there anymore if I have to do that.
Popping in to say that I do not salt my pizza, but I do add liberal quantities of hot sauce, which also tends to be salty, so it isn’t a completely ridiculous concept.
Here pizza places tend to also offer hot and cold grinders (heroes/subs/hoagies/torpedos), fries, cheese sticks, salads…
I like salty snacks in general. I buy pretzels that have the biggest chunks of salt on them. I like it when I have to dust off my fingers after eating french fries. So yeah, I usually salt my pizza.
Sometimes I’ll take the pizza crusts and use them to mop up the extra salt on the plate.

My hub puts salt on his pizza (Salt Sense.) I think it’s already salty enough but one of our running jokes is that I like food with my pepper, so…
I’m in the “never ever seen someone put salt on a pizza” camp. Nor spaghetti, cannelloni, or lasagna.
I used to do it sometimes when I was a kid. It did make a difference to the taste. Since I’ve become a hypertensive adult, though, I don’t do it anymore.
Wow I never thought of this. I put salt on just about everything (Oranges, try salt on oranges and your life will never be the same) but pizza never occured to me. I’ll have to try it
