My dad used to salt pizza. Worse–he’d salt anchovy pizza, which is already super salty. You could see the salt crystals glistening on it. I love me some salt, but I wouldn’t do that. But, then again, I don’t think he does anymore, either.
I use onion salt on pizza. My Dad did it and so do I.
Yes, it’s weird, but my father’s always done it. He may have reined it in a bit after a mild heart attack and hypertension problems, but he is ridiculous with salt. When I was a kid he made me Kraft Mac & Cheese that I couldn’t eat, and I wasn’t picky and never refused to eat what was put in front of me. Even now, 30+ years later I want to gag thinking about it.
I know a few people who salt nearly everything, but I can’t say whether I’ve seen them do it with pizza. The reaction they get from others indicates to me that it’s seen as somewhat trashy.
