Sam Stone believes Trump's tweets

I don’t know why anyone’s surprised. If Sam’s tenure here shows anything, it’s a poster who has been steadfastly holding the line on their own preconceived views while maintaining an absolutely impermeable defense against any kind of new information penetrating their brain for more than twenty years.

That’s some pretty telling stuff there. Thanks!

I dropped into this thread and saw the bits about 88 being associated with Nazis. I thought, “Well, that’s news to me.” So I Googled it. Now I recall the association, but it’d been years since hearing about it, so I’d forgotten.

Hey, did you notice that the case is proceeding despite Trump’s attempts to stall and obstruct, which are getting shot down one by one? We don’t know yet whether he sold or gave them to anyone, although we do know that he showed some of them to some people and that others may well have accessed them at Mar-A-Lago. We also know that during his tenure in the White House he did pass classified information to Russia and Saudi Arabia, so an assumption that the classified information he illegally took with him in violation of the PRA might have been passed on to those or other parties is not remotely unwarranted.

Hey, remember how the Mueller report presented evidence of 11 counts of attempted obstruction of justice but Bill Barr blocked any charges from being brought? And also how Trump and Barr later both committed actual obstruction of justice by blocking subpoenaed witnessed from testifying and subpoenaed documents from being released during the first impeachment trial and how every Republican Senator except Romney kept any evidence at all about Trump from being presented?

But thank you for the reminder that Trump has escaped accountability for several openly-committed crimes because the entire GOP is profoundly corrupt and complicit. And that you, Sam_Stone, are perfectly fine with that.

(Also, Mueller did achieve about three dozen indictments, seven felony convictions of other people, and the acquisition of tens of millions of dollars in laundered money from Trump’s former campaign manager, so on the whole it’s been the most successful government investigation in decades.)

The Hunter Biden laptop story is obvious disinformation*. I don’t mean your strawman “The Left claimed there was no laptop at all” claim but rather the “The laptop contains clear evidence of corruption and criminality by Hunter and Joe Biden” claims which remain utterly unsubstantiated but which you’ve been happily spreading “right here on the SDMB” nonetheless.

Presumably this is why you keep doing it. And I don’t just mean about things you may or may not know.

You can’t expect him to read the threads he posts in.

Wasn’t there brouhaha over the poster with the handle Huerta88?

Next thing you know he’ll be claiming he never heard of #3: Hi Opal.

You’re doing it wrong; you’re meant to imply that you do not know this info because you aren’t a Nazi, but everyone else in the thread is.

If someone painted swastikas and other racist graffiti all over Sam’s kid’s school, Sam would keep the kids home for a week to keep them safe from the woke overreaction by those commies at the ADL and SPLC who want to stamp out Free Speech.

Poster Sam Stone
Why don’t you leave them alone? Yeah, yeah
You won’t feel so broke up
And they all can go home

Jesus Christ died for nothing I suppose.

Not sure how many others will, but I got the reference.

That’s because, as a “Canadian” it all seems far away and somewhat abstract to him.

I don’t think it’s that. It’s because he gets all his news - and his spin on the news - from his tiny right-wing news bubble, which portrays investigations into Trump and other Republicans as frivolous witch hunts no matter how well-evidenced, and every investigation into a Democrat as potentially earthshattering no matter how tenuous or dubious. And then when challenged with, you know, actual facts or substantiated arguments, he just doubles down and accuses the rest of us of everything he’s guilty of.

I don’t really think Sam deliberately supports right-wing criminality or neo-Nazis per se. He just blithely carries water for his side by repeating without question everything he’s been told by his little news bubble (all the while reminding us how important it is not to get all your information from a little news bubble) and never stops to consider that they might be lying to him with malign intent. The effect is the same, however.

Great minds - I just posted this link about Huerta88 in the other thread where this is being discussed. By the way, you were pushing back some there Kimstu, but it was ~sixteen year ago .

Damn, I’m old.

I agree, which is why in the thread I created I urged him to get better sources of information. Alas, that does not appear to have come to pass.

To be faaaaaairrrr, I didn’t know 88 was associated with Neo-Nazis either. This board is the only place I’ve seen it mentioned. I don’t make a habit of prying into right-wing septic holes. I don’t need to be convinced their intentions are contemptible.

As Randall Munroe pointed out, there’s no such thing as something “everybody knows,” so it’s no big deal that you weren’t aware. But the fact that - for you - right-wing septic holes (and the things that emerge from them) aren’t an area of immediate and tangible concern speaks to your privilege, not to a lack of information.

One needn’t lay down with dogs to be aware of fleas.

Now tell everyone else in this stupid thread.

If I could’ve placed a bet on who would jump on which part of my post, I’d be rich.

@Sam_Stone is on track for this year’s Golden Sealion Award:

We know you can do it, Sam! Just one more month of feigning ignorance and pretending like everyone is attacking you for “bringing truth” to the discussion in the form of barely disguised Fox News soundbites.
