Same name as job

25 years ago, when I lived around Fremont, CA ; I was amused by a dental place that advertised on the side of the building the doctors they had, one of the dentists was Dr. Chew.

[Does a quick search]

Well, there are two Dr Chews there now, part of “The Chew group”!

I used to work with a Sergeant whose name was Sargent.

This one is hilarious!

How about a Warrant Officer named Warren Tofficer?

My family name, in German, has to do with farming with horse teams. My grandfather was in WWI, and was a mule teamster in the army that helped defeat Germany. That’s as close as anyone I know has come to matching.

Not quite the same name, but Roger Director is a producer. I’ve seen him in the credits of Devious Maids and Moonlighting.

James Garfield’s doctor was named Doctor Bliss (as in his first name was ‘Doctor’, and then he became a doctor, so Dr. Doctor Bliss)

There’s this guy.

Fictional one here but the book I’m currently reading had a priest named Pugh.

Sounds like a variant for Cluedo “Reverend Pugh in the sacristy with the crucifix”

I just heard a very interesting story on NPR about scientists attempting to create artificial blood. But the thing that really stood out to me was the researcher’s name. Now the transcript isn’t available yet, so I can’t be 100% sure I didn’t mishear it, but it sure sounds to me like his name is Dr. Doctor.

Thank you for giving us the news.

It is now… He’s “Dr. Allan Doctor” !

And it looks like we got a twofer – in literally the same episode of All Things Considered there was another story featuring a scientist who studies animal behavior named Jeff Katz. He’s actually studying dog behavior, but still…

Jack Crouch worked from the crouch (backup catcher for the St. Louis Browns and the Cincinnati Reds).

For completeness I must cite two psychiatrists with apt names.

Dr. Head and Dr. Bhatti.

Re Cardinal Sin: around Boston, we remember Cardinal Law.

The UK Green Party’s first elected local councillor was a Mr. Marjoram.
