I always have problems with the words business and tomorrow.
Words that I also confuse, devious and/or beautiful. 3 vowels in a row.
I used to always have trouble spelling school for some reason. How do you forget that ?
This is me. By far it’s these two words most often. Which, considering I write ratio only eight or ten times a year, is good going, I suppose.
I finally conquered “inheritance” when I figured out there’s a “her” instead of “heir”
“Joseph” is a hard one to type for me - I always type “Jospeh”
Unless I type it VERY carefully (as I’m about to) I nearly always misspell “remember” as “remeber.”
The most problematic ones:
(1) I’ll sometimes mistype “not” when I mean to type “now.” It definitely causes confusion.
(2) I’ll hit the Enter key when I mean to hit the apostrophe, which is particularly annoying when I’m IMing back and forth with someone.
One time my coworker was working from home, and asked me to check if the CEO left a signed cover page on her desk. I meant to type “He did,” but accidentally typed “He died.” That was amusing in a morbid sort of way.
Words that end with either “d” or “g”: I’ll frequently type the other letter. For example, “ang” instead of “and”, or “bid” instead of “big”. And not just when typing; I used to make the same mistakes in longhand, way back before I learned to type or use computers. I always catch the mistake as soon as I make it, and on a computer I can at least correct it immediately and neatly instead of scrawling the correct letter on top of the incorrect one.
Makes me wonder if I have an oddly specific form of mild dyslexia. It hasn’t escaped my notice that the lowercase “d” and lowercase “g” basically mirror each other vertically (I don’t make the same error when typing/writing in all-caps). And I don’t conflate lowercase “b” and “p”.
This is probably my biggest one. It fits into a pattern, though–most of my typos seem to be cases of reversing adjacent letters when those letters are close together on the keyboard, but not typed with the same hand. So, I frequently swap “t” and “h”, “g” and “h”, “g” and “n”, and so forth.
Wow, this just reminded me of another one. When writing something out longhand I tend to switch p’s and q’s. Never happens when I type the words. I remember copying some class notes once and accidentally writing a q instead of a p. I erased the incorrect letter and them promptly wrote q again. Finally got it on the third try but I had to think about it. Weird.
In message board communities, some typos take on a life of their own. I’ve seen “pron” end up being deliberately used for “porn” and “inslut” for “insult”. Not to mention “cow-orker” being used for “co-worker”.
You don’t think people are deliberately going around orking cows, do you? Shit, I bet Rule #34 applies to that. :eek:

The weird thing for me is that I was completely aware of my d-g swapping back when I was still writing everything in longhand, and it completely freaked me out when I realized it had followed me to the keyboard. Up to that point, I’d always assumed it was a “muscle memory” thing, because with both the “d” and the “g”, I’d write the circular part of the letter first (both identical) and then add the ascender or descender as appropriate, except I’d frequently mix them up. There was therefore no logical reason for making the same mistake on a keyboard. And yet I still do.
And again, only when those letters appear as the last letter in a word. Worg. Word.

I always accidentally type a T at the end of the name Christ… dammit I did it again! Seriously!

Also I almost always invert the I and E in weird. I know how to spell this word, but I apparently don’t know how to TYPE it.

Vehcile. I just typed that without thinking, but that’s how vehicle comes out most times.
That’s ridiculous, everybody knows it’s misspelled Micheal.
I have to be very careful filling out online address forms, because I always seem to transpose the street number. Luckily the post office hasn’t had a problem delivering when that mistake slips through.
Also, words ending in “-tion” always seem to come out “-toin” when I type them. There’s probably a ratoinal reason for it.
For me, those words come out ending in “tino” instead of “tion”. I almost always catch it, but still I do it.
Mine is “definitely”, which I constantly type as “defiantly”. Changes the whole meaning of the text when it reads “I defiantly will be there tomorrow”.
