Don’t know why these words haunt me so badly. I just can’t spell them correctly without slowing down and thinking about it and when I’m typing I don’t like doing things that slow me down.

Beleive and beleif - I often mistype these even though as soon as I see them I can see they’re wrong.
I consider myself to be good speller, and I would swear it’s supposed to be spelled seperate but spell check says it’s supposed to be separate.
I rarely misspell anything, but sometimes when writing fast I’ll have what I call thinkos instead of typos–it’s/its, they’re/their are my two worst. I know which one’s correct.
Unlike principal/principle, which I have to thing about and, occasionally, look up.
Also I used to have bookmarked a site called “lie vs. lay.”
I cannot type the words hopsital and sould. That is, hospital and soul. And when most people mis-type “the” it comes out as “teh” but mine comes out “theh” more often than not.
Restaurant. I always want to spell it restaraunt. I don’t know why.
Gandhi. I keep wanting to spell it “Ghandi.” I know, proper noun and all that, but still.
Accommodate. I always forget the other M. I’m probably figuring that since there’s the double C, that’s enough. Nope.
I always used to spell “traveled” or “traveling” as “travelled” and “travelling.” I heard somewhere that the latter are British spellings. Is this true?
teh
ratio is always ration for me.
I do this, too.
“Concentration” always comes out “concnetration” the first time.
Subpoena
Why I need to spell this all the time is a different matter…
restaurant - always leave out the ‘u’
occasionally - always add a second ‘s’
there’s others, but naturally I can’t remember
Manoeuvre. I simply cannot spell that word correctly, ever.
I do almost every single one of these misspellings myself!
I put most of them down to actual sound vs actual spelling not matching up thanks to the english language.
Well, actually teh is a typing finger problem from what I understand.
…and typing “thing” instead of “think” I guess I’d better add.
Rhythm. I had to look it up. I cannot, cannot spell that word. Every time I have to spell it I kid myself I have managed to burn it into my brain but next time I try, I can’t do it.
The funniest one in my life is “tub goat”. A colleague maritime lawyer has this very bad habit of committing this typo consistently, and now I use the term in my head as a kind of internal private joke.
governemtn - I can spell it, but I can’t type it.
Accommodation
YES! My first thought.
And “definitely” always becomes “definetely”.
Insurance always comes out “insurnace” the first time I type it. It’s not a misspelling, just a typo; for some reason my fingers refuse to strike the keys in the right order. Every goddam time.
Most words with an ‘ie’ somewhere start out being typed with an ‘ei’.
Words with double letters often end up with the letters after those being doubled up as well. Football normally comes out as foottball, for example.
