I would say, after seeing FOX News’s hard-hitting approach to the debates, that they have more journalistic credibility than Salon, and Marcotte in particular. Not that this is a high bar to clear.

This flap seems manufactured to me. When I first heard about it, I was more sympathetic to her. But since she ADMITS that she didn’t see who pulled her down, and there was another guy nearby who basically fit the same description, and that not one camera there manage to capture it, I don’t understand how she can be so adamant about her position.
Legal question for you or one of our lawyers: if I’m walking north on a sidewalk, and 8 people arm-in-arm are walking south, don’t I have the right to continue walking north. Next question: how about if it’s just two or three people that try to intentionally impede my progress? What’s the law here?

I don’t dislike the guy at all, I would probably get along great with him, considering how chill he and his friend reacted when he got sucker punched.
I have no idea what he was saying, and I do not know what was said to him that caused him to react in whatever manner that got him kicked out.
If a white frat boy goes into a club full of young black people and starts calling people niggers and gets popped in the face, there is a good chance that no one will be arrested or cited when the cops get called. They will tell the idiot that he should have known something like that could happen, because it’s so insulting, and especially because he sought out a place where a reasonable person would expect that sort of behavior could lead to a smacking.
Now, again, I don’t know if this kid did anything that rises anywhere close to this standard. But there are things that he could have said in that context that would. One of those things might be calling people Nazis, if people had parents who fought and maybe even died while battling Nazis, or who just objected to being labeled as part of a group against whom violence has been so normalized.
I think the old guy is most likely just off his rocker, but I do not know what happened.

Okay, so may recollection as far as his earlier comment was correct. I was unaware about his his claim that he’d consider paying the asshole’s fees. I hope he decides to let that guy suffer the consequences of his actions unaided.
