Friday, Oct. 18 around 8 p.m. the Sands Hotel and Casino goes ka-blammo.
I will be witnessing the event within the glass spire of the Bally’s Tower.
Will post updates after the event.

Cool.
Do you know what’s going up in it’s place?
.
You realize that the 18th is Thursday. I wouldn’t want you to miss it.
The Venetian. They imploded the Sands back in '96, we were there to walk around the fuselage of the plane from “Con Air” that was parked in the lobby.
OK, so that was the Sands in Vegas, I’m guessing there is another Sands out there.
I think the OP means the Stardust.
Whew. I thought I was losing my mind.
The Stardust is dust. I think the OP means the New Frontier, which is really showing its age and has been closed for months.
Th OP is in Atlantic City, the Sands there is scheduled for demolition.
End of an era. I had my greatest blackjack victory ever there. From $250 to $2,775 in four hours.
In its place there will be an open parking lot, or possibly a self park or valet parking garage.
The NEW Sands will be built in the vacant lot closer to the Boardwalk.

Update:
Ka-Blammo!
Starting at 9:30 pm there was about 10 minutes of fireworks in, on, and around the gutted building, culminating in a series of WHUMPS that cut the feet out from under the old girl, and she collapsed in a pile of dust.
For about two hours after, every roadway was completely jammed with vehicles trying to get out of the city.
In the immediate area, there is a fine layer of grey dust, with occasional fluffs of fiberglass insulation.
