That’s how it works in formal logic, and maybe even in lawyerly briefs: that the juxtaposition of two facts or assertions doesn’t imply any connection between them.
However, that’s not how it works when normal human beings talk. If a mathematician needs to tell you this, you’re in more trouble than I’d previously realized.
Not only is that not how normal talking works, that’s not how any sort of organized communication works. If her comments were paragraphed, those sentences would clearly be in the same paragraph. Ideas in a paragraph have some relationship to one another.
It’s true that she’s very stupid, but her particular brand of word salad still has connections, however stupid, between ideas. Positing that she’s interwoven two themes --soldiers with PTSD, and Obama’s lack of respect for the military–without intending a connection between them is really weird.
Edit: by the way, Brainglutton, nobody cares about who you want to fuck.
They are connected in that they are both about soldiers, no?
For what it’s worth, I took her “argument” to be that if we removed PC rules of engagement then we would win faster and therefore traumatized fewer American soldiers. But that was based on a news clip, not the transcript.
