I agree with this, but believe that’s only part of the story. People like to speak of her charisma, how well she connects to ordinary people, how she has ignited the base, etc. Bill Clinton has been quoted on these boards saying she’s a “natural politician.”
So let’s assume she does have some special inner glow that makes her the “It Girl” of a certain wing of the Republican Party. That “it” quality just as easily works against her, too. She does have some weird ability to attract worship and derision both. It’s two sides of the same coin.
I’m not sure she left out a word or had a slip of the tongue. I think she might be trying to coin a term, the Far East Coast, tarring the East Coast and its presumed liberals with all the scary UnAmerican foreignness that such a term implies.
But for Alaskans, New York etc are the Far East by simple dint of geography. China, Russia, and Japan are all just as close if not closer, and they’re all to the West, whereas New York et al are to the East.
