Sarah turns opaque.

Wait–what? John McCain was confined sometime during the war? Really? And no table or chair at all? My land. That is something, isn’t it.

Palin seems to have a real thing about requiring people in government to be loyal to her. Hell, she cleaned house as Mayor on the basis of insufficient loyalty to herownself. (It sounded vaguely reminiscent of various communist purges, where people could be imprisoned or executed for insufficient enthusiasm for The Party.) Where, in a town of @7000 people, there would be such a depth of qualified applicants anyway.

How can the GOP campaign gurus possibly think stonewalling an investigation will help their already shaky credibility? Possibly they haven’t noticed that 'Murkins of any creed or political persuasion can leap right onto a juicy cover-up. Especially, I must say, the extreme right wing of the, er, extreme right wing. You know, the hardy survivalist types who already believe in government black helicopters.

Even just principled conservatives–because hey, there must be at least a few left–must find hijacking the investigation distasteful. Hell, McShame’s vetting team knew the investigation was out there when they picked Creationist Barbie.

Fairly revolting, but entirely in character–or lack of it–for the GOP candidates and their Rove2 handlers.

They gambled. They guess that her personal appeal and myth will overcome such petty distractions. Probably, they’re betting that their line will sell, that its all a cooked up scandal by the liberal media, etc. Basicly, they are betting that people will like the image so much, they will ignore the facts.

Might work. Has before. What determines whether it will work or not? Haven’t the foggiest. Be grateful for a clue.

$5 says that, if elected (Og forbid!), Palin is Agnew Jr. by this time next year.

Besides busting the Wasilla budget by $19 million, now I see why McCain can’t wait to introduce her to Washington, yet another person that approves of defying subpoenas and to continue the Bush/Cheney legacy of ignoring any oversight.

McCain approved ad, about how Obama done sicced a pack of wolves on Sarah.

But doesn’t Sarah hunt wolves?
I’m so confused.

Given sweet little Creationist Barbie’s desire to ‘hunt’ wolves from helicopters with high-powered rifles, the ad struck me as mere critter Justice. But I have a Far Side sense of humor. Stern-eyed Larson wolves and caribou, armed with assault weapons, lying in wait to bring down Palin’s helicopter.

Arroooooooo!

This whole “Nice sweet Sarah was attacked by the nasty black man” bit was a fucking setup from the very start.

It smells very much like a planned operation.

Man, Palin must really have something to hide if they are trying so hard to shitcan this investigation.

The sad part is that she just might be right. At least enough of the time to get elected, anyway.
(Does that make me an elitist? Oh goody!)

Just as well too. Because squirrel-buggery is a tricky business without the aid of a sturdy table.

**Troopergate probe appears to be unraveling **

Somebody woke up with a severed moose head in their bed…

Tie to the table or staple?

Is this not ze troopergate,
Sarah Palin troopergate?
Ya, das ist der troopergate.
Super Duper Troopergate!

To anyone who gets the reference, I’m so sorry.

Heil! (raspberry) Heil! (raspberry) Right in der Fuhrer’s face! Spike Jones, unless I’m very much mistaken.

Immediately after announcing that those subpoenaed would not be testifying, the state attorney general immediately left for Kansas on vacation. Really.

Chefguy, it strikes me that they’re not even trying to be particularly subtle about this.

I mean Colberg pretty explicitly said that they care about personal loyalty over and above the constitution. And now he goes on vacation? That’s pretty much “in your face, screw you”.

Is there a sense that people in Alaska are angry about this? Or is the feeling mainly “meh, whatever”? Is the spin that the investigation is all Obama’s fault getting any traction? (In other words, do people know about the timelines, and the fact that this investigation pre-dates her appointment to VP candidate?)

What?! Who the hell goes to Kansas for vacation?

We have some hardcore righties up here who would vote for Satan, as long as he promised them their PFD check. We also have the other extreme who receive signals through their fillings. Surprisingly, there is a low tolerance for bullshit from either side. There is certainly the element that thinks Sarah can do no wrong, but I think there is a general awakening to the fact that we are being steamrolled by outside interests. Palin’s fan base may still support her for VP, but may not stand for the legislature playing fast and loose with the state constitution, or for campaign assholes coming in and telling us how to run our business. The local paper had an editorial this morning taking the whole mess to task and chiding Palinco for suddenly stonewalling her constituency.
