That was pretty good. I thought the Homeland spoof was hilarious.
Even though I’ve never watched an episode of Homeland, every clip I’ve seen features Claire Danes ridiculously overacting, so I very much enjoyed that sketch.
There were a few laughs in some of the other bits. I kind of liked the Burger King sketch. There wasn’t much point to it, but it was just silly and funny. I’d like to see them do more stuff like that, actually.
She was pretty polarizing here on the SDMB, but love her or hate her, Kristin Wiig had become the heart and soul of the show over the last few years, and I think the cast is stumbling a little to find their way without her. The ensemble format notwithstanding, I think SNL needs a “star” to build its shows around. Veterans Sudeikis, Hader, and Armisen are always solid, but IMO none of them fills the star role. Not sure who else is going to step up in this cast.
I was thinking that Kate McKinnon may be the one to take over Kristin Wiig’s role of being in every sketch. A week or so ago, she did a lot – more than I would think of a Featured Player. I think though that her and Cecily Strong have been pretty decent so far.
I laughed (and always do) at Drunk Uncle on Weekend Update.
Agreed - I thought Anne Hathaway performances were way better than the regular cast. Her impression of Katie Holmes was perfect, and the cross eyed thing with the American Gothic painting had me rolling.
I laughed.
Well, I thought KW was the best female comedian on the whole show. I really miss her.
I didn’t think that was any funnier than the random one-liners people throw around here in Elections and the BBQ Pit.
I was laughing during girlfriends, but only because my wife has had the same thing with her best friend going on.
I fall into the “hate her” category, but I think that Andy Samburg is the one whose humor is notably missing from this year’s SNL.
I can’t stop watching the Sloppy Swish.
Finally watched the rest if it last night. The two gay Maine guys were a riot, although the guy on the right (can never remember any of their names) did a piss-poor job on the accent. The other guy was pretty good, though. Still, I laughed pretty hard at the whole Maine send-up thing. It helps being from New England, too, I guess.
