Carrey still sucks as Biden. The rest of it was a little better than the previous shows this season. But Carrey has to go.
unless Biden loses Carrey is likely to stay for a while.
I too wish Carrey were funnier in this role. He gets the look pretty close but misses on the personality. Woody was funnier.

I thought this ep better than the previous couple - tho I watched it only last night and am not sure I can remember any really strong skits. The smelly jeans bit was disgusting. Got a kick out of the village people. And the fortune teller was an entertaining concept.

Note that the next host (the fifth in a row without a break) is John Mulaney. He’s had some really good bits in previous episodes (Diner Lobster, Bodega Bathroom and Airport Sushi) so I’m hopeful.
I’m seriously hoping that Mulaney puts together a John Goodman-esque streak and hosts every year for a decade. His show have been highlights of each of the past three seasons.
Last time he had musical guest David Byrne too. That was a quality show.
I’ll add my voice to the Carrey detractors. Woody’s take is closer to Biden. Biden isn’t manic.
Harrelson’s Biden also had the best line:
“ Look, I’m like a plastic straw. I’ve been around forever. I always worked. But now you’re mad at me?”
I never understood why both Carrey and Sudekis decided to make Biden into an aggressive character. Woody realized that Biden was far more laid back with spurts of aggressive behavior. Like take for example the shooting into the crowd that Carrey does. Biden would do that at like a million times slower, pointing to individual people in the audience.
What I’m wondering is if Jim Carrey is going to make himself available for the next four years, if Biden wins the election. Surely Lorne Michaels discussed that possibility with Jim Carrey? Or are they planning to get one of the regular cast to do Biden long term?
Sudekis was a more aggressive version of Biden but Carrey isn’t even Biden on crack. There’s nothing Biden like about him.
I sure hope so. The old-timers and pro actors steal enough roles from the new cast as it is.
Another new episode tomorrow, Saturday, November 7. This is the sixth in a row, which is a record I believe. Dave Chappelle is the host with Foo Fighters as the musical guest. You might remember that he was the first host after Trump’s surprise win in 2016. His opening monologue commented on the election result.
After the opening, last week’s show was their best this season, they seem to be getting back in the swing of things. The host helped a lot.
“Will the last late night host/SNL actor to do a Trump joke please turn off the lights and lock the door.”
Can’t wait to get back to two-four years of not doing a negative President Joke.
