Saw Pirates 2...

I don’t remember hearing that line at all, but it’s still brilliantly subtle and funny. Darn.

The same thing happened to me with the exchange between Jack and the Voodoo lady:

“I thought I knew you.”

“Not as well as I’d hoped.”

Ouch! I was the only one in the theater who laughed, though.

I thought it was a great movie. Wasn’t bored for a second, and the fish pirates looked awesome. I didn’t mind the cliffhanger ending, either. I’m puzzled by all the people who say this movie is “just a commercial” for the third one. No, this movie and the third one make up a larger whole. I love the idea of using multiple films to tell one, much longer story.

I wasn’t bored. But I thought it was a bit over the top.

Incidentally, Lady Washington (which portrayed Interceptor in the first film) is going to be in port in December. I want to take advantage of the three-hour cruise again.

Of course it was a bit over the top. That was the whole idea.

And I thought that the eyesight thing was just “Yes, I’m aware there’s a Black Spot on my hand, I can see it as well as you can.” Which fell kind of flat, since I could tell it was meant to be a joke. The hairy palms thing is funnier.

I saw this again yesterday, and enjoyed it just as much if not more than the first time. I would strongly suggest that anyone that feels like it jumped about too much try seeing it again (yes, I know it’s long), as there was much I missed the first time that suddenly became clear upon 2nd viewing.
Saw the locket this time, can’t believe I missed it the first time as both times you see it are long drawn-out, obviously-meant-to-be-meaningful shots. However, I still managed to miss the monkey running up to the boots.

Got a lot more dialogue I had previously missed between the characters, such as, before visiting Tia Dalma’s shack, Mr. Gibbs asks Jack if it is just a “passing fancy” that they go visit her, suggesting perhaps Jack frequently made, uh, booty calls there before? And upon arriving, Jack clarifying that it was his front he was worried about, when Gibbs offerred to watch his back. Heh.

Got the significant way Tia Dalma said to Will at the end that she knew he was lamenting the loss of the Black Pearl, as with it he could have caught up with the Flying Dutchman and saved his father. I believe Will’s character is going to get much darker in the third movie, maybe offering to sail to the ends of the earth to retrieve Jack, only intending to leave him there and just take the Pearl for himself.
Anyway. Great movie. And still packed to the walls after being out for like two weeks. Crazy.

Whew! Finally went to see it, myself. I’ve been avoiding this thread for weeks now!

As to the “over the top” antics and whether they last too long or not, I thought they were fine. Myself, I don’t see how one could enjoy the antics in the first movie and then complain about the second movie. Yea, they were even more outlandish, but hey, that’s the whole point of the movie! Still, we can agree to disagree about this without pulling out the ol’ rolleyes, can’t we?

I, for one, didn’t see the end coming. Possibly because I didn’t read this thread or any of the reviews, they got me.

I didn’t expect Barbarossa. I thought for sure they were just going to Cap’n Jack show up, give us a big smile, and that would be it. Ha! I now eagerly await III!

That I’ll go with. While I enjoyed the movie immensely, a little tighter editing and bringing in some of the loose plot elements would’ve helped. I wanted to see a little more about the East India Company guy, more involvement from his “man in the field”, to build up that side of things. As it was, he was just thrown in as a convenient plot element at the beginning and end, and nothing else.

Yea, that, too.

Well, in all fairness, there was only one good dog scene in the entire movie.

OK, two.

What does that make me!? :stuck_out_tongue:
