Same here. I don’t know where Telemark gets the battery acid taste from, Pepsi tastes milder than Coke to me.
The malted battery acid comment originated in a Bloom County strip several years ago.
I like the diet vanilla Coke. It was the only Coke brand pop I really liked. At all.
I too might have to slip some vanilla into regular old diet Coke for old times’ sake, if it is phased out in Canada.
Anyone know where you can get diet cream soda in Victoria, BC? <sigh>
I never liked Vanilla Coke. It had a weird off taste. It was better than Lemon Coke, but that’s not saying much. In fact, I suspect that someone at the Coca-Cola plant spilled a big bottle of Pledge lemon-scented furniture polish into the Coke vats, and instead of dumping the contaminated soft drink, they called it “Lemon Coke” and fobbed it off on an unsuspecting public.
Coke with Lime is pretty good, however. The lime succeeds where lemon failed. I’ve always liked Cherry Coke, so I might try the Vanilla Black Cherry stuff.
I tried the C2, but I didn’t like it. I do, however, like the Diet Coke with Splenda, and I prefer it over the old Diet Coke with Nutrasweet.
That looks like a dispenser for liquid soap, not that you can’t use it for whatever you wish, I suppose. I’ve been playing around with different combinations of flavored syrups from this company in Washington state. The quality is far superior than the syrups you might find in Starbucks and they also sell pumps. If you want to fill emptied bottles with vanilla extract, I’m sure it would work fine (or liquid soap for that matter).
I love vanilla coke.
I never got to experience rum and v Coke.
If not for your post, I’d never have known…
I hate you.
Vanilla Coke with vodka is pretty good too (as is Coke with vanilla vodka).
I used to enjoy Diet Vanilla Coke, but then I started to prefer Diet Coke with Lime. But now I hardly drink anything aside from Coke Zero.
A shake with lemon juice? Wouldn’t that curdle?
I tried the vanilla coke, and was soooo disappointed. Not nearly enough vanilla flavor. I want to try cherry vanilla, but I loathe diet anything.
I miss Pepsi Blue. (I’m probably the only one, but I love raspberry flavor).
Vanilla is one of those few flavors where we know exactly what chemical produces the flavor, and how to produce that exact chemical artificially. So the artificial vanilla extract is the same thing as the natural. Except, of course, for the minor detail of the real stuff being fifty times the price.
Better yet, buy one of those big gallon-size jugs of soda flavoring at your local Smart-and-Final. Also buy the $2 pump to go with it. Voila! A big giant size pump that’s always at the ready. I’ve been doing this with cherry fountain syrup for years. Cherry Coke, cherry Pepsi, cherry Sprite, etc. You get the idea.
I was talking to Mom (born about 1930) a few years ago about soda fountains. She mentioned they would jazz up Coke with a shot of vanilla, cherry or chocolate syrup.
Or sometimes ammonia! I have asked about this repeatedly and she swears it is true. She didn’t die or nothing!
“Its a floor cleaner and a diet cola!”
I loved Vanilla Diet Coke, but can’t seem to get it here - only the regular vanilla Coke. Regular coke on its own is too sweet for me, and the vanilla with it just puts it over the top.
I also liked Lemon Diet Coke when I was there, but here, it tastes exactly like someone poured Pine Sol into my soda. Hideous.
Tried it a few times, never really liked it much. Was great when REALLY cold, but anything above ice cold, and it started tasting like cough syrup.
Same with Pepsi Vanilla.
Actually, used to 50/50 with Cherry Coke and Vanilla. That was pretty good.
Lime Coke/Pepsi were both awesome, but I can’t seem to find them anywhere now.
And yeah, Pepsi Blue was awesome. Like carbonated Koolaid.
But in Bloom County, both Coke and Pepsi are described as malted battery acid. I was wondering how Telemark could apply that to something that, to me, tastes less acidic than the Coke eqivalent.
The first time I tried Vanilla Coke my immediate thought was that it tasted like Captian Morgan & Coke without any alcohol. Yum.
I thought Diet Vanilla Coke tasted nasty, though.
I like a variation on the the old Beatles favorite: Diet Coke w/Lime and Scotch.
