Say, whatever happened to the "teemings" e-zine?

That looked like fun. But there don’t appear to be any new contributers since 2003. We should start it up again.

I agree! I submitted an essay and it was gratifying how many people seemed to enjoy it. Eutychus was in charge, and I don’t think he’s around any more.

It was discontinued a while back; here is the (short-lived) thread about it.

He’s still around; his last post was only 2 days ago.

Oh! Well, I guess our paths haven’t crossed.

What precisely are the legal obstacles of a group of us from the SDMB getting together and contributing to a “teemings” relaunch sometime this year?

Or if “teemings” isn’t possible, how about a whole 'nother e-zine?

I’d be up for it.

Count me in. I’d volunteer for an editing position.

I’d certainly volunteer to do something. Of course, being new, i’d probably end up as the tea boy…

I’d like to be a contributer, with consideration for an editorship later.

I have always had a knack for wooing and encouraging talented writers, poets and artists to go from a “dabbling writer” to “actual writers.”

I’m going to open up a thread in ATMB and ask Ye Powers That Be…

Link to ATMB conversation.

Askia, why don’t you get a e-mailing list of people who are interested together and we can work something out?

I’ve been tossing the idea of a SDMB podcast around for a while but I wasn’t sure if there would be interest or what exactly I’d talk about - lol.

Kythereia. Okay. My e-mail: askiah@yahoo.com. Address questions to “teemings 2006.”

Please familarize yourself with the style and content of the previous teemings e-zines.

No guests, socks, currently suspended or banned members. (Membership has its privileges.) We must have a way to contact you via e-mail.

ronincyberpunk. The major obstacle to the podcast is the technical hurtle of getting quality recordings of the author’s posts in the author’s voice, or – a good reader’s voice reading the author’s post. The second seems far easier to accomplish than the first.

Uh… everyone’s clear this is a labor of love done for free, right?

Yeah, the idea of the podcast had just been a sort of show discussing the active threads and events in the lives of the members. The vision was like a radio show for a small town, covering the news of the local life. It wasn’t as a recreation of the teemings e-zine.

I’ll stay tuned, I don’t know if I can put forth the involvment with this project. Though I’m interested to see what comes of it.

I have heard that there was a categorization of the LOTR thread on the old teemings page. I think it would be great to get that back on. It sucks scrolling through those hundreds of songs.

We discontinued the 'zine a few years ago for a few reasons, predominantly because submissions had pretty well dried up and we didn’t want to put out a measly few pieces per issue. Plus there were things in my personal life that happened that rather made it so my heart wasn’t in it anymore. The teemings domain name was sold about a year ago to some guy who still hasn’t done anything with it; we currently have the old issues archived on my own web space.

That being said, if there really is interest in getting it going again I’d be happy to discuss it with anyone who wants to see it done.

E-mail me : euty@cox.net

Quick poll within-the-thread: How many people here would be interested in the new volume of teemings having a visual component for Doper artists? You submit your artwork in a scanned format no bigger than say, 800 X 600, we post it in the magazine.

Please let us know if you like that idea, and whether you’d likely be a contributer.

Eutychus: got your e-mail. Reply soon.

Eutychus, I sent you along an email…
