Time for the annual “Who’s in the SCA and/or who’s going to Pennsic in two weeks” poll.
If you’re going, stop by the Blue Feather encampment on E-12 and set a spell. We’re an amusing bunch.

Well I am not going to be there. Thought about going, but decided I would stay put. Would have gone for the light fighter tourneys. Yet, I rationalized I need a bit more practice and I would know no one there.
You are in the SCA?
I would have never guessed.
A blue feather? I have heard about you all.
I went to Merchants of Mayhem last month to take the authorizations for Schlager. Anyway, I decided to hell with getting decked out, I went in street clothes.
It seems everyone I knew and some I did not had to blurt out “Your Naked” (for non SCAers not in period garb).
This to be old after oh the 5th person. I finally retaliated by answering them "Yes, and your staring. " Needless to say there was much talk about Osip the rest of the day
Have fun, might run into you one day at Pennsic, never know.
Osip
And this would be the year I decide to skip Pennsic!! Stiletto and I were discussing the idea of a Doper Party at Pennsic. Like I said, this year’s out for me, but I’ll be willing to join you next year. In the meantime, for anyone driving in, I’m within daytrip range and could meet some of you off-site.
CJ
Double damn. I will HAVE to go next year.
And, as you no doubt gathered from cj’s post, I will be there. Only for a week, but that’s better than not at all.
I’ll try to drop by and see you, Esprix.
And cj, I’m still working on schedule, but I have my flights booked now. Still have to see about transportation.

One of these days, someone’s going to have to explain all this SCA stuff to me. (I did check out a website link someone sent me to, but I’m afraid after reading for an hour I came away knowing LESS than I did before I started.)
I’ll be there. I’ve had to miss the last two years for stinking work, and I am excited. Working on finishing up my garb and starting to pack now.
What, when, and where is Pennsic? Can you go even if you’re not in the SCA? Will there be beer?
Esprix- Since I’m still working on getting my armor fixed (going on 2 years now, dammit) and the fact that I’m poor, I won’t be at Pennsic this year either. Dang it.
Do you ever may it out to Estrella? I’m going next year, if I have to hitchhike to do it.
mental picture of Tristan, in plackard and mail, holding sign on side of I-80: Current Middle Ages
Well, maybe not.
Nope, sorry. I end up using my ‘vacation’ (unpaid time off) for Gulf Wars in March (c’mon ta Mississippi, rain and a couple of tornados, but it’s a HOOT!!!).
I have a post card and an aerial photo from Pennsic 1991 (my last Pennsic). I do miss the heat and the dust.
Buy me a t-shirt please? Or send me a postcard?
I’m in the process of joining the SCA
I’ll be at Pennsic next year! Woo Hoo!
Stiletto and FisherQueen, please feel free to stop by the encampment any time. Better yet, come to the Clan Blue Feather Ball & Fashion Cotillion on Thursday night, second week - I’m the host.
LifeOnWry, what would you like to know?
ratty, Pennsic is the longest-running and largest event in the SCA, held each August at Cooper’s Lake Campground in scenic Butler, Pennsylvania. About 12,000 weirdoes from around the world descend on the small towns of Butler and New Castle and provide them with two weeks of amusement and money. You do not have to be a paid member of the SCA to attend, but everyone must pay an entrance fee, of course, and participate, i.e., wear period clothing, attempt to recreate a Medieval atmosphere, etc. We are not a Ren Faire where the locals can come and gawk - we’re a club where members come and make of it what they will. And of course there’s beer - home brewed at that.
Tristan, haven’t made it to Estrella yet, but I do believe a certain Baron in Caid is going to drag me along some year as his protege or somesuch.
