I’ve reached the inescapable conclusion that “Schitt’s Creek” is actually “Gilligan’s Island” in disguise. The parents, of course, are the Howells. The daughter is Ginger, and the lady who owns the motel is MaryAnn. Ted the veterinarian is the Perfessor. . .
I just think that they all take turns being Gilligan.
After I saw the first two episodes I just assumed that the premise of the show was going to be them attempting some new way to get back home every week and failing in a funny way…then I realized that would be Gilligan’s Island.
It’s Gilligan’s Island in the sense that they unexpectedly found themselves here, but it’s also pretty different since the show is much more about how they’ve settled into their new life as opposed to trying to leave it.
They could certainly leave if they wanted to. Johnny can find a job and Moira could certainly do some acting work. No, they won’t have millions, but they could scrape together enough to get an apartment anywhere.
Alexis, we all know an Alexis. If even half of her stories are true (and in the show I assume they all are), she should be able to squat at friend’s houses. A few months here, a few months there etc.
David, I think, could make a perfectly acceptable life for himself anywhere fashionable. He could find a sales job and sell anything to anyone and if he has Patrick with him, they’ll do just fine.
I’m not saying this is a bullet proof plan or that I’ve given more thought than it takes to type it out, I’m just saying that I think they could leave, they just don’t want to.
