Under the furniture? A pet’s toy stash? The refrigerator/freezer? Someone’s bag?
We’ve looked in all those places! We do have a lot of bags (for different sports/activities) but some we haven’t used this week at all. I might go through those even if it seems impossible.
We do have cats, one of which does carry things around the house, but I’ve never seen her carry a remote or objects like it. It’s usually pencils, nerf balls or darts, stuffed animals, etc. and most end up under the dining room table. It’s not impossible, but I really don’t know where she’d put a stash with this if she did take it.
So frustrating!
Wastebaskets? It’s not that unusual at my place for stuff to get knocked into them accidentally.
Emptied out the laundry hampers, all the way to the bottom? Checked all the pants pockets of pants/jeans/cargo shorts in the dirty laundry or hanging on a chair)?
There are no waste baskets in the living room (it’s a small house, the kitchen is very close) and it would take effort to throw it away absentmindedly but I suppose I can’t rule that out. In that case, it’s gone, as we’ve had garbage, recycling, and compost pickup since we noticed its absence.
Laundry is centralized in one place (small house, different floor) and I’m largely on top of getting it cleaned, but I can dig through the hamper and look. It’s a fairly big remote, I don’t think it would fit in any of our pockets.
I will certainly update if we do find it!
My couch has space between the cushion and the inner frame (both sides and along the back) where a remote could slip down into.
The only sure way for it to turn up is to buy a new one.
Fück cancer indeed. Stopped last night at a friend’s brewery. Lovely young couple with a 5 year old son and a daughter just turned two.
Found out the daughter was just diagnosed with leukemia. Devastating news, and I’m just a friend. I can’t imagine what the family is going through.
Tomorrow I will be witnessing the signing of a will by my daughter’s longtime friend and former roommate - a terminally ill 31-yr-old widow with 2 young children.
Fuck cancer.
I’m going to hell, but my first thought was, “Cabrito tacos?”
He’d have been barbecue if he hadn’t come to us. As it was, he had a pretty good life. And the silver lining is, now the donkey and the pony have a new pasture. They’re enjoying it.
The last time this happened to me I found it at the bottom of a large handbag that I had stopped using.
The handbag had a broken zipper, which was why I stopped carrying it. After the zipper broke I sort of stuck it halfway under the far side of my bed.
I guess the remote fell off my bed, and in a very lucky shot, landed inside this old purse and managed to hit bottom.
I’m still surprised I thought to look there at all, but of course that didn’t happen until after I had purchased the new remote.
lol, my thought was a nice pit style slow roast …
So sorry, and fuck cancer. Several of us here have been through this, so do start a thread if that would be supportive for you.
@mnemosyne have you tried looking in another dimension? That’s where my lost remotes usually end up.

I may do that once I get more information. Right now I’m ready for the steri-strips over my biopsy site to come OFF. It’s itchy.
Yes, they are.

The Committee has removed it due to insufficient fealty. It happens to all of us at some point.
I hate how things just “disappear” randomly like this.
I’ve had this happen more times than I care to remember.
Sometimes stuff shows back up and sometimes it’s just gone.
I hope the mystery will be solved.
I once found a missing jug of milk in the microwave.

@mnemosyne is your remote in the microwave, fridge, or freezer?
OH GAWD CHECK YOUR OVEN
