Scholarship question

I’m starting college next year, and in my college search, I found this.

I’m wondering, if I win it, can I buy a new computer with it? It seems that if I can justify it for school reasons, it would be ok. Here’s the text that’s making me leery.

Upon receipt of a Governor’s Scholars application by February 1, Governor’s Distinguished Scholars automatically receive an award equal to tuition, mandatory fees, room and board, up to $10,000 per year at any Arkansas institution. Other applicants who are chosen as Governor’s Scholars receive an award of $4000 per year.

You should be asking the Governor’s Scholars program, not us.

But unless the computer was a manditory fee, I wouldn’t think it would be covered.

Depends on how they administer it. If it goes to your bill and you have a positive balance, at my school, they’ll cut you a check

I had just kind of assumed that calling them would get me a big fat no. That’s why I was trying to see if there was enough gray area to get me a free computer. B/C I have a very good chance of winning the distinguished (34 ACT), and I’m going to a school that costs about 4800/year for tuition.
